There is no dobt that science and technology has led to the development of our great country and indeed the whole world.In order to understand the contribution of science to national development,iwill like to defime science and technology.
What is science?Science is the study of knowledge which is made into system and usually depending on seeing and testing facts and stating general laws.Technology is the pratical application of scientific knowledgle or inventions to the solving of everyday problems of facilitating tedious human activitives.
The product of science and tachnology has contributed to the developing of countries such as America,Japan,China,and to an extent in our country.
Through the applicaation science,people have been able to make and produce eqiupment and machines being used in industries and even in our homes.
Also,science and technology has helped in easing the stress encountered in the movement of people and goods from one place to another,through the invetion of automobiles,aircrafts and so on.People have been able to move around the country and outside the country with case because of availability of modern means of transportation.
Furthermore,science and technology has helped the area of medicine.Some natural herbs converted to drug with the aid of modern equipment and these drugs are used in the hospitals and homes by the people who are sick.
Equally important is the fact that science and technology has helped in making work easier for people to do through the invention of computers,machines and so on.These machines have taken over the activitives of man and have made work easier.It has made it faster.In the invention and ability of communication media such as telephones,televition and radio.With telephone system,for instance,one can have contact with friend and relations in far away places.
More over, rural communities are transformed to urban settlements through science and technology.This is made possible because of the availability of electricity,pipe borne water,good roads,schools,hospitals,just to mention a few.In this regard,thee has been population explosion to these new urban areas.
Indeed,our country and some other African countries are under developed because science and technology has not been given its proper place in the scheme of things.For us to develop and meet the challenges of the time,science and tehnology must be given adequate attention
