That must be one of the questions I get asked the most by home owners, and I must admit it is one of the hardest questions to answer as there are many answers. Until the last few years the only permanent way to re-decorate your concrete was, well pull it out and start again. The main problem with this option is cost involved in removing existing concrete and not to mention that over the past few years the cost of disposing of the waste concrete has increased dramatically.

The other options may have been to try and “spruce up the old concrete" the problem there is the only 2 real options colour seal or paint. If you like to look at a single colour shiny slippery surface then that’s fine then there is the wear and tear and that “worn out look" that becomes apparent within 12 months or so. Then there is a problem if you have a steep driveway as paint or concrete seal can become very slippery in wet or frosty conditions. The other problem that these surfaces create is that if you ever wish to spray pave resurface the concrete the cost will increase as the spray pave applicator must remove these surface for correct bonding of spray pave to the substrate surface.

Around 10 years or so ago Spray Pave was introduced to Australia . The only problem was that there has never been any attempt by the industry as a whole to let the public in on the “best keep secret in concrete resurfacing" “Spray Pave" so I find as an owner operator of a Spray Pave Business that the general public perception of the product is that it is a “type of concrete paint" perhaps the problem has its roots in the name “spray pave" as it is close to “spray-paint".

Spray pave resurfacing is a polymer cement based product which can be applied directly onto existing concrete . The spray pave system is engineered to combine excellent durability with class-leading abrasion and slip resistance. It is available in a large range of colours and designs. With the same surface properties as the concrete to which it bonds, Spray pave forms a hard-wearing yet pleasantly appealing surface for foot or vehicular traffic. Not to mention the obvious safety factors involved in a textured product.

The other appealing feature is the long life of spray pave resurfacing, when applied correctly and maintained it should last as long as the concrete it is bonded to with the only ongoing maintenance being a reseal on driveways every 12 months and around 24 months for foot traffic areas. Most good applicators can come up with some wild and individual designs or you may wish to have your company logo sprayed on these are all possible with spray pave resurfacing. If you are a business and you are supplying a safe access to your business for staff and customers then you may even have a tax deduction(but please check with your cpa).
