Knowing your chainsaw's repair parts intimately is just about compulsory especially if the chainsaw is a major part of your working life. Even for occasional users it wouldn't hurt to give the operating manual the once over instead of just glossing over it.

In reality, while it appears a powerful and dangerous machine, the chainsaw is not all that complicated to understand and when you know the fundamentals then maintainig good maintenance and service practices on it becomes a breeze. It will cost you a "pretty penny or two" if you don't learn a little about chainsaw repair parts.

Chainsaw Repair Parts

Safety is a big issue when using chainsaws and thousands are injured every year from chainsaw use. One of the best ways to give yourself the best chance of avoiding accidents is knowing and understanding your chainsaw repair parts.

As mentioned earlier, if you have a Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Poulan or any brand name machine then stick with that chainsaw's particular repair parts when they need replacing or servicing.

The Symptoms Of A Chainsaw In Trouble

Some of the symptoms of a saw not working to it's full capacity include the following:

- When you need to start exerting more pressure on the saw than usual to get it to cut.
- When it is throwing up powder rather than chips. This is a sure sign you need to stop and do a maintenance check.
- If the chain is acting abnormally such as moving around.
- And if you start to notice a burning smell

Stopping immediately and checking the saw is vital. It's telling you not all is well with the chain. Chainsaw repair parts involving the chain can be a costly exercise but only if you continue to ignore the problem.

Chain Problems

A dull chain is usually the reason the cutting action is not as smooth or as effortless as it should be. It may be the chain needs sharpening or wasn't sharpened correctly in the first place.

If you are relatively inexperienced in this area then don't attempt to do the job yourself. Instead take it to a qualified technician and pay the extra cost involved.Reason for this is if you continue to sharpen the chain incorrectly it will lead to other problems meaning one of two things; you'll damage the saw completely and it will cost you plenty in chainsaw repair parts. Eventually with more experience, you should become confident enough to do the job yourself.

Chainsaw Repair Parts Availability

Technology has ensured the chainsaw continues to evolve at a rapid rate. Manufacturers are bringing lighter and more powerful machines onto the market every year. How much reliable service could you expect your machine to to give you?

For semi professionals a chainsaw should last almost ten years with proper care and maintenance. In fact, parts are usually in the system for any given model for that length of time. Chainsaw repair parts can be an expensive exercise but by following good maintenance and servicing tips, then they shouldn't really be an issue.
