I love the fact that alot of todays youth is into poetry. Russell simmons is a genius and he really made a great show in def poetry. I really don't watch the show alot because im never home but I like the fact that he has the youth of america thinking. I've managed to catch a few episodes since its been on and I really find it interesting. All types of subject matter, and all different races of people coming together and expressing themselves. There are some very talented poets and some are not so talented, but the fact that they have the courage to go in front of millions of people and express themselves is incredible. I saw the episode where kanye west just sung one of his songs and it was really entertaining. You kinda forget that rapping is just poetry over music.

Well to sum things up, I feel poetry is going strong and I feel great about that. Im looking forward to seeing def poetry grow and work wonders in the communities of our youth.

I'm a big fan of Russell Simmons' Def Poetry and I'm glad to see someone writing about it. It's great because it brings a lot of people from different backgrounds together.
