Organizing Your Life The Easy Way

Why is it that when someone thinks about organizing their home they think that they have to stick a lot of money into it in order to do it the right way? Organizing your home and saving money at the same time, is fun , inexpensive and stress relieving, isn't that a pleasant thought?

When it comes to storage, there isn't any right or wrong way of doing things or choosing the things you want to use. Sometimes, a cardboard box works better than a plastic storage container, especially if the variable in the amount that goes in that box changes rapidly.

Sometimes, it is better to start your organizing goals by using cardboard boxes until you find out exactly how big of a container that you will need for permanent storage. As you are checking your items, it is a good time to go through things and to throw out or to donate them; making a difference in the size of the storage container that you will need as an end result.

 To give you an idea of what I mean look at this list;

Instead of a                                                        Use

Label maker                                                     index cards

Plastic containers                                              cardboard boxes

Plastic hangers                                                  wire hangers

Plastic shoe boxes                                            cardboard shoeboxes

Plastic drawer dividers                                     cut poster board

See, organizing can be inexpensive to do, using the things that you already own.

Organizing your home, using these utensils, is better than NOT organizing at all. Our lives are filled with stress points and your home should be the one area that you have to relax and get away from the outside world. If you come home to a mess and know in your mind, that there isn't any hope of it getting any better, you will have another stress area added to your life.

Wouldn't it be nice to know that by the time the weekend comes that you have time to enjoy life, do things with your family and friends and not feel guilty that something in your home isn't being done? Wouldn't you like to be able to open a drawer and find the item that you are looking for? Aren't you getting tired of things falling out of a closet when you open the door?

Sure you would like to have your home organized, everyone would like this to happen in their homes, and it can, by taking baby steps to an organized home and lifestyle. Use my '50 Things to organize in 10 minutes' and you will be looking for other things to organize. It is so nice to be able to find what you are looking for, have a 'home' for everything in your house, be able to stop replacing things that you have lost and can't find and it will help you to cut down on the amount of time you spend cleaning your house.

Budget organizing is fun! There are so many ways of emptying boxes and containers that you already own and the double benefit is that you can use those storage containers in another area of your home.

Cover these boxes with Contac paper and you have a pretty, decorative storage container that fits well in any linen closet or clothes closet.

Use shoe organizers for those small little items and for children's toys and hang them on the inside of closet doors, these work great out in the garage too!

The boxes that you receive your checks in can make great jewelry containers; add some cotton balls and a piece of felt and it will look great too!

See how many ideas you can think of for organizing your home on a budget and take the stress out of your home life.

Great tips! We are moving soon and I have been cleaning closets and sorting through a lot of "stuff". I have found white tall kitchen trash bags to be a great way to temporarily keep things sorted and out of the way. By using white bags, you can write directly on the bag with a permanent marker and when I have emptied it for good, it lines my kitchen trash bin.

Ooo Jan, I really like these tips! They make so much sense. It is much more cost effective to use what you have until everything's all sorted for permanent storage or safekeeping. I like Lori's idea too about the white trash bag. I've used the black ones and had to cut them open to find out what was inside. I'm just no good at this but I'm learning, thanks to you and others!
