The plot thickens by the day and the clock is ticking on the apparent
inability of the police to solve the bloody assassination of South African mining magnate Brett
Kebble.
Claims of bungling detective work abound amid allegations of panic in
high SA Police Service (SAPS) circles if certain information regarding the activities and
connections of Kebble’s “circle of friends" is exposed by this KeyNews
investigation.
An independent probe by KeyNews indicates that the people who may have
been behind the murder on September 27 are members of the same “Old
Boys Club" that allegedly controls organised crime syndicates in
Gauteng and has tentacles that not only stretch across South Africa,
but are also firmly linked to international crime syndicates operating
from London to Israel and parts of Europe.
The shadowy cabal is believed to have spun an intricate global spider’s
web that involves illegal dealings in drugs, diamonds, extortion and
club bouncers. Reliable sources told KeyNews they were also responsible
for silencing Winnie Mandela’s best friend, Hazel Crane and the
gruesome murder of her former husband, Shai Avissar – henchman of the
Israeli mafia.
Crane and Kebble were both gunned down with a 9mm pistol. It is not
clear if police have investigated whether or not the same weapon was
used in both shootings. Although seven shots were fired at close range
at Kebble, no one living in the up-market suburbs nearby heard
anything. This could indicate that a silencer was used.
All but one of the bullets removed from Kebble’s body during the
autopsy indicate that he was shot by a hand-gun expert who used
ammunition specifically designed to inflict maximum damage.
One possibility is that Kebble was killed by someone who was with him
in his luxury Mercedes Benz at the time. The police recovered 12 Camel
cigarette butts around a large rock behind a tree next to the road
where he was shot. The cigarette butts were sent for forensic analysis.
According to reliable sources, Kebble may have been assassinated due to
mounting pressure being placed by an individual who was “very close to
him" on certain foreign shareholders with possible links to the Israeli
mafia.
Contrary to popular belief, Kebble may not have died for diamonds, but
rather for the lucrative and very long life of the South Deep gold
mine. With Kebble out of the way, one of the richest gold mines in the
world is up for grabs.
Among the growing number of questions regarding some of the issues and
activities surrounding Kebble in the weeks before his death and
immediately afterwards that the police are staying mum on, are the
following:
About two weeks before Kebble’s death, one of his closest confidants
walked into a top Johannesburg BMW dealership accompanied by a friend
who is well known in bouncing circles. They had more than R2-million in
cash in a suitcase. One of the men, who worked for Kebble, bought a
brand new BMW M5 Snitcher, while the other purchased a BMW M3 CLS. The
source of the cash has not been revealed.
A day after Kebble’s death one of his employees, a former murder and
robbery detective, phoned the police and requested that the Mercedes
Benz be released into his custody. The vehicle was moved on a low-bed
truck to a panelbeater in the south of Johannesburg, where it was
thoroughly cleaned and repaired. The BMW M3 buyer is alleged to be
closely linked to the panelbeating concern.
Intelligence circles are abuzz with talk that some of Kebble’s closest
confidants were regularly seen in the company of top-ranking police
officers.
In the latest revelations of South Africa’s Spy vs Spy power struggle
within the ruling ANC (African National Congress), it was revealed this morning that Intelligence
Minister Ronnie Kasrils has suspended two senior officials of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for
allegedly spying on Saki Macozoma, former ANC
official-turned-businessman and confidant of President Thabo Mbeki. It
is no secret that there was no love lost between Kebble and Macozoma,
who the murdered man had claimed was one of a group of senior ANC
members who plotted to prevent fired deputy president Jacob Zuma from succeeding Mbeki as
president.
The two suspended NIA officials are deputy director-general Gibson Njenje and general manager: counter-intelligence Bob Mhlanga.
According to KeyNews sources a top ranking NIA official and a
government minister were frequently seen having lunch with Kebble – as
often as once a week.
