A land of unequaled beauty, mystery and amazing underground rivers where the Maya use to kept their undiscovered secrets…

Nowadays the Mayan Riviera has one of the most spectacular landscapes of the entire World!

Nestled between the jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula and the Caribbean Sea lies a seemingly endless white sand beach dotted with quaint villages and stunning resorts.

The same reef system that lies off Cozumel runs parallel to this shore while the famous “cenotes" (caves and caverns) of this region are found in its jungle-thick interior.

A magic earth, full of arcane truths wound by a broad and lush forest, the Mayan Riviera offers boundless possibilities of diversion.

Historically struck by a meteorite, the Riviera Maya is constituted by subsoil made of calcareous rock. During years and years, this complete ecosystem was formed by dripping rain water that created an underwater fantasy of magnificent stalagmites and stalactites of unrivaled beauty!

Spectacular rare delicate minerals rocks formation, ancient fossils and important archaeological discoveries have made that these underground rivers, in Mexico called "Cenotes", became precious places of bewitching beauty!

Sunlight penetrates multiple openings that make this the best place in the world for cavern diving and snorkeling.

Along the Riviera Maya lies a mass of underground cavern systems that are one of the largest fresh water sources in the world. Transparent and translucent waters, clear and primordial environment, ivory lunar landscapes characterize the Cenotes.

Mr. Stephen Bogaerts and his fellow diver Robbie Schmittner from Germany, spends most of the time in the under-earth of the Mayan Riviera looking for a connection between Sac Actun and Nohoch Nah Chich.

These two experienced divers have probably discovered the longer underground system of the entire world!

The Mayan Riviera is a perfect dive destination, with different sites to suit all interests and experience levels.

Swim in the subsoil of the Mayan Riviera or in the splendid waters of the Caribbean Sea remains an amazing adventure to live!

With world-class dive sites, heavenly landscapes, and immaculate white sand beaches, the Riviera Maya's undersea kingdom is the perfect destination for a dedicated or casual diving holiday.

Diving activities take place in three general areas: Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, close and convenient to Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Each dive site offers something special, and a day trip is the perfect way to sample the many delights of the sea.

Diving is popular all year round at all dive sites around in the Mayan Riviera.

The Riviera Maya is equipped for receiving divers from the World. The greatest part of the hotels and resorts along the Mayan Riviera has diving centers and diving activities for every kind of level and experience.

The fresh, floral air energizes you. The warm, tranquil waters refresh you. The breathtaking, natural beauty renews you.

Come and enjoy one of the best diving vacations of your life!

Nice article. You make the place sound beautiful, which I'm sure it is. I have done some diving off the coast of Mexico while in Portevallarta---but that was a lifetime ago. Enjoyed your article.
