The action of the wise one is always governed by principles, principles that have stood the test of time. In order to acquire true wisdom one need to know one's self.

Being true to yourself, how do we do this and why?

Here is a little story someone told me:

There was a lion cub who by chance was misled into a flock of sheep and was taken by the shepherds. He grew up with the sheep and acquired their ways, although his form was different. How would eat grass and make sounds like sheep. One day, when the sheep were grazing, a lion happened to come that way, and on seeing the sheep he roared. the sheep ran away, but the cub stood, and having seen the familiar form, he walked up to the lion with affection. The lion took him under his influence and once again the sheep-lion became a real lion.

This story says it all, the potential in us is always seeking fulfillment but we must realize it first through self-knowledge.
The action of the wise one is always governed by principles, principles that have stood the test of time. In order to acquire true wisdom one need to know one's self.

Using the words of Seneca
"How can the soul which misunderstands itself have a sure idea of other creatures"

This is our battle daily, examine your thoughts and emotions daily and you will realize that there is a great number of changes taking place. But these changes are not who we are there is a part of you which remains constant which is where we should always return. In order to return to this state you need to reach a state of stillness.
Don't be attached to any situation you find yourself daily, don't seek any identity with it just let the situation unfold and meet each situation with open mind, relax, stand back and enjoy. This way you will always be able to meet the needs for each day.
As always listen, look, touch and being in the present moment for there is no other way for greater fulfillment of you potential.
Listen when people speak, don't just look...see, this way you will understand with which comes better capacity to act accordingly. Rid yourself of preconceptions, embrace open mind for it will lead you to knowledge.

Give yourself the time to simply be and not trying to be something else, the work on your being starts with self-knowledge.

Seek self-knowledge by practicing the following daily:
  • Always return to that part of you which remains constant through stillness (occasional silence).
  • Avoid attachment to any role in you daily endeavor each situation will require something different.
  • Simply be and stop trying to be something else.
  • Try this and see how you action will collaborate with nature's and experience greater achievement daily.
  • Fill your current plane, if you do, you will transcend to another plane.

Finally, examine these words of wisdom from Confucius
"Whoever knows essentially his own nature, can know also that of another man and can penetrate into the nature of things. He can collaborate in transformation"
