New York Yankees All-Star Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia find themselves splattered across media outlets once again. Granted it is completely through their own doing this time. Apparently, the latest news surrounding the couple is that Cynthia sported a tank top with foul language on the back at a game against the Oakland A's.
What did the shirt say that has so many up in arms, you might ask? "F-blank-blank-blank You." Yes that's right. A major leaguer's wife sat beside her two-year-old daughter in a white tank top with those words printed on the back.
Honestly, if this was any other person, most people would just turn the other cheek and ignore it. But she is Alex Rodriguez's wife, who is a role model himself for young kids across America, despite the fact that he shouldn't be considered a role model simply on talent alone. But she knew she would be in the limelight. Why not set a high example to live by in today's society?
In my opinion, it is just plain foolishness on her part. She knew going in that she would be the center of attention with that shirt on. My thoughts are that is exactly what she wanted. Why would she want attention, you ask? Simple. The last story told by the media has her grasping for a sense of who she is, where she is going and if she is more than A-Rod's wife.
Granted, what woman in her right mind would not act out after having a picture of her husband published in the New York Post with a stripper barely a month ago? In late May, the Post published a photo of A-Rod with a Las Vegas stripper entering an elevator in the hotel and later going to a strip club.
I have to say as bad as the profanity is, I believe the woman is suffering and hurting right now. What do we tend to do when we hurt? Act out. Does that excuse the behavior since she is well known in New York? Does it justify her actions? No, I would hope that she would be bigger than her husband for their child's sake. But I do think maybe the media and public should cut her some slack. Give her some time.
As for A-Rod, well what can I say? Talent only lasts so long. Players with legacies are the ones known for what they did off the field as well as on the field. Get a clue and fix your family!
