The meaning of life is not as complicated as some make it out to be.  In fact, there is no meaning to life, plain and simple.  Life came about naturally, and it will die out naturally.  Humans were not "put here" to do anything; we evolved into what we are today.  What I am referring to now is the grand meaning of life, to which there is none.  However, every single individual has some kind of meaning.  This meaning is not predetermined or destined, but chosen by the individual.  It can be either good or bad, and it affects the rest of us in some way, minor or major.   That's it.

Many humans feel the need to be special, and/or have the desire to live forever, and that is why God and the afterlife were created by us.  It gave us a way to be unique and eternal.  And if there is a God who supposedly created us, then he must have created us for a reason, and that is where the greater meaning of life stems from.  But if you erase God, then you see there is no meaning to life.  My philosophy is to get through life enduring as little pain as possible, and removing as much pain as possible from others.  Pain, whether it be mental or physical, is the worst feeling in the world, and that is why we must work together to make this world as painless as possible.  I do not need the prospect of a heaven to want to help others; I do it because I feel that life should be a happy event.  In my opinion, this should be everybody's philosophy, because if it was, the world would be a much better place.

It may seem disappointing and depressing to give up the idea of a meaning to life, but it is not as bad as you think.  By living life day by day, and not worrying about what happens after death, happiness and comfort will come naturally.  Helping others and the environment will give you your meaning and a way to be remembered by.  You can still trouble yourself wondering about the greater meaning, it is fun to think about sometimes, but in reality it is a waste of time, as the chances of God or the greater meaning existing are incredibly low.

I agree with this article 100% and add this detail to some of its' points: GOD as creator of life exists but not as a saviour nor a destination we should spend our lives seeking to return to; GOD'S purpose for our creation, I believe, is that He who is a Spirit, LIVES through the infinite manifestations of His Spirit and that is why all life forms have such an extremely powerful drive to survive regardless of circumstance and an equally powerful drive to BE HAPPY - which is TO REALLY LIVE, it is GOD'S Spirit within us that is seeking these satisfactions, but expressed through our imperfect and limited wisdom due to our being material forms we make mistakes along the way in trying to achieve these goals and hence often create suffering for ourselves and sometimes others. For us, the individual form, the personality (some call the Soul), the meaning for life, I agree, is what you make it; but, I believe that since the final goal we all want to reach is HAPPINESS that attainment is achieved through LOVE: that there is someone whom you love and respect and that person loves and respects you. Without love or at least some degree of it a feeling of happiness is not obtained, instead, you feel like you are merely existing and playing at living and that life has no true value in itself, it is merely a game. Although, I am not a Christian the great prophet Jesus was right when he said: The Greatest Commandment is LOVE.
It has taken me a life lived many years to understand the truth of that and how greatly the emotion of LOVE is intricately part of our Spirit. The greatest love to be acquired is from another human, due to species compatibility, but failing this a person may be naturally drawn to feel great love thru being a creative artist; or the mutual love/companionship of a dog, the point is if the heart is strongly drawn and satisfied in a spiritually virtuous way than the individual has satisfied the basic meaning of life in achieving a true love relationship: the individual is thence happy and sees life as having meaning continually each day, even if he/she is of moderate income, for excess money is no longer necessary. And the individual finds that their desire to achieve material goals like high achievement in a career or merely to become extremely rich: the LOVE foundation in the individuals life empowers their natural abilities and strengthens them against life's adversities.

Good to know i can involve myself into the matter that concerns life. Im 25 yrs old and i actually asked GOD to show me how to walk in the right step to life and i ended up having a self-study of / to life.
The word "LIFE" means Living For Ever. Take it or not. When you ask the Holy Spirit to teach you he will. The Bible said the "Holy Spirit is a Standby. and will teach you in all theses things"
Life is a GAME: Please play right. Im 25yrs old. I ask myself, 26yrs ago, where was i. I really can't tell.. but if you understand that life is a Game.. then LIFE (earth ) is the last stage of the game. 26yrs ago, i was in the other level of LIFE.. meaning i made it through and i found myself journeyed here and i made it here and i must look for a full avenue to make it to the other side which is the LIFE ( IN) Eternity. Which is to Die the Death - and Live to LIFE...
GOD: means life ( Greatest Over Death )
DEATH: means Taking life back: DO EVERTHING ACCORDING TO HIM
LORD: means Saviour: Long Suffering Over Resurrection from Death
LIFE is not what to be afraid of. Life it. Its given to us by Christ Jesus and many are looking for this LIFE and cant find any..you have it.. Make it a word to suitable for the coming generation

Great article!
I think the meaning life is what we make it, it comes from within, and from our relationships with those around us.

We do not (and should not) need any eternal threats or rewards in order to do good and live good lives - we should want to do so for our own sakes, and the sakes of our friends, families and other fellow inhabitants of this rather lovely rock we find ourselves on!

i like how ur acticle by all means tells life in a prospective that its easily understood but life is more than only one sided. I enjoyed your acticle its a nice lesson on life and the lighter side of life. To comment straight to a point if you have putted in some facts of the dark philosophy of life it would have been much more a great article. Thanks for sharing though :) its a great experience :D my fellow philosopher of the unknown reality.
