I have repeated this question over and over again in my mind for days. I finally came up with my own version of what I think is the meaning of life.
Before I tell you what I think, allow me to share the thoughts of a few people that I personally know and decided to interview to get their views on what they think the meaning of life is to them.
I received different answers from people who are in different age groups and who are in different situations.
Here are a few answers that I thought were quite interesting.
1. 8 year old female – “just to play with my friends and have fun" DH
2. 14 year old male – “just live" MM
4. 18 year old male – “party, live it up because were here for a short time so just enjoy it the best way you can, that’s my meaning of life." BS
5. 18 year old female – “Love your friends, be kind to everyone and live the best life you can" BR
6. 26 year old male, single- “My meaning of life is to get a good job, get married, have children and take care of them as best as I can" DH
35 35 year old female, single mother-"The meaning of life is to enjoy the people you love, and learn from the mistakes of your past life; and to do all this with love, compassion and empathy." TO
7. 35 year old mother, married- “Right now the meaning of life to me is taking care of my two girls." FH
9. 35 year old female, single-“God, I never really thought about it a whole lot, not sure, not sure if there is one answer, it is so different for everyone. I could say for me it is to be happy, love and be loved. Live and let live. Now if you are thinking about the planet as a whole, to learn, develop and exist." EW
36 year old female, mother, married -“I believe we were put here to live life to our best potential. To worship God, make the best of every circumstance and situation. Make the most of what we have been given. To be there for fellow man and revere what God has created and given us. Simply to love each other, love our lives and love God. I may not live up to this philosophy in every action, but it is what I believe." EO
10. 37 year old male, single, heavily addicted to drugs-“Meaning of life is to survive" JM
11. 37 year old male, single-“Accentuate the positive" TC
12. 39 year old female, single, teaching in Kuwait-“I believe that the meaning of life to be about an individual living life for each day. Each day that you live you grow and learn. Those daily lessons are taken with you. Life is in the moment, the here and now. Enjoy each moment." KC
13. 40 year old male, married, in the army-“To me the meaning of life is just being yourself. Enjoying life to the fullest extent possible. Surrounding yourself with close personal friends. It just doesn’t get any better than that." CM
14. 45 year old mother and wife, pastor-“The bible tells us that we were created to worship God and be in fellowship with him. In my journey in life, in addition to the things above, I seek to serve him by leading others to the saving knowledge of Christ as Lord and Savior and to be loving to my fellow-man." DJ
15. 63 year old woman, my mother-“The meaning of my life is, to live each day the best we can to please the Lord and everyone around us. To give birth to a child, teach our children Love, Truth, Happiness, Honor and Respect. To show others that we can all live together in harmony. Too respect others in all ways. To live the best we can so when we pass on we will meet our Heavenly Father with our heads held high. And not being ashamed of ourselves." JS
From this I can see that as we grow older our meanings of life change. From an 8 year old girl to a 63 year old woman there is a big difference. These people who I have spoken with on this matter only skims the surface of the millions of ideas out there that people have on their meaning of life.
To me, the meaning of life is not trying to place first in every sport, it’s about having fun playing it.
It is not about being the best player on the team, it is just being able to play on a team.
It is not about me, it is about others.
It is not about owning the fastest car, biggest house, having the fanciest clothes and the most money. It is about having enough to keep us warm, fed and safe.
It is about giving someone a hug even when they don’t ask for one.
It’s about helping a stranger carry their groceries up a flight of stairs without them having to ask.
It is about buying a meal for someone that is hungry, reading a book to a person that can’t read, volunteering your time to others.
The meaning of life is more or less summed up into one word and that word is Love.

Another meaning of life to me is to love God with all my heart. To do the very best I can to make him proud of me.
Too teach my children about God’s love, and to teach them about Jesus dying on the cross for them.
To thank God each and everyday for the blessings he has given to me, and pray that his love will show through me to others and most of all to my children. So that his love will be passed down through me, to them, and to their children for generations to come.
The Bible tells us that:
God is love and he wants us to learn how to love.
Every one of the commandments is based on love.
The whole Law can be summed up in this one command: “Love others as you love yourself."
The Bible also tells us “Let love be your greatest aim."
It also reads “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart…this is the first and greatest commandment"
God wants Love to be our top priority because Love is eternal.
The Meaning of Life is Love.
