For me the meaning of life is when we look at things every day with the eyes of a child as if we had never seen the wonders of God's creations before. Touching, smelling the gifts that were given to us when God created our world.
We start our lives as seeds in the womb, new creations. As we grow there our lives are dependent on the one who carries us. When we are born we are dependent on the ones who care for us, they will mold us into what we are to become as we grow. When we are shown love, compasion and giving we to will show love, compasion and giving. These traits will stay with us through out our lives. My mother did these things for my sisters and my brother and I and at 52 I still have these traits. She taught us to help others when we could, to give our all in everything we do in life.
As we grow older, we will get married and start families of our own, each time we will pass on what was taught to us. Loving and cherishing every moment we have with our loved ones and friends that we meet on our path through life. We will have grandchildren, who will be nurtured in the same way that we were when we were young. They will be taught to love, to be compasionate to the people they will meet that are less fortunate then they are, to give themselves for the betterment of mankind.
Then, when we have lived our lives to the fullest and it is time to say our goodbyes, we will look back on the good times and the hard times that molded who we are. The troubled times of teen years, where we had made mistakes but somehow made it through unscaved. Learning from those mistakes and promising ourselves that we will never do that again. Starting our first job, and I mean our first real job. How scared we were that we wouldn't be able to do it right, that our bosses wouldn't give us a second chance. But, we did just fine and some of us stayed there until retirement, and some of us changed jobs until we did find one we loved. Finally, finding that one person you wanted to spend the rest of your life with only to discover that they weren't who you thought they were and you had to start your search over. Not everyone goes through this step in their lifetime and yet some may go through it several times, and then there, right in front of you, stands the person of your dreams. You get married and everything you ever dreamed of is actually happening. You have the house you dreamed of, a dog, three cats, two cars, four motorcycles and then you are diagnosed with a serious condition or maybe two. We may consider this to be a test of just how strong our relatonship really is or maybe our past catching up with us. Either way it puts a strain on our relationship. But somehow you come through it stronger than you can imagine. When we look back on our lives we can say that we lived our lives to the fullest even if we didn't get to do all the things we wanted to, we did all we could.
When I was growing up this is how it really was and I understand that it is not this way now. Our world today is filled with violence, lacking in trust, suspicion abounds every where. We have to lock our doors day and night. We have terriost, murders, thiefs, child molesters and drug dealers and users. I don't call this life, this is death to me.
