Increasingly, women are growing more facial hairs and resorting to shaving their faces.  As a consequence, women, especially Black women, experience ingrown hairs, neck bumps, and razor bumps. For women, such bumps can be especially unsightly, producing significant scarring and discoloration. Here are a few tips on preventing or reducing your hair bumps and ingrown hairs:

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #1: Stop Using a Razor. Okay, so this is the last thing you wanted to hear. However, the only 100% effective remedy against ingrown hairs and razor bumps is to stop shaving.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #2:Try to have your face or targeted area waxed to remove unwanted hairs.  See a professionally licensed beautician or spa specialist and have him or her wax your face. Make sure you look into whether they have natural waxing procedures, such as beeswax or honey. These are better alternatives for your skin and will reduce your chance for skin discomfort and irritation after the waxing treatment. Also, ask if there is some sort of natural moisturizer and hair bump prevention solution that they will apply following your wax. The application of these two items will reduce skin eruptions, kill bacteria, and soothe your face.  If they say they do not offer such items, bring your own. Beauty 4 Ashes makes a wonderful, 100% natural Hair bump solution that can be applied after facial waxes and will reduce existing hair bumps and prevent bikini, chin, and hair bumps in the future. You can order from Beauty 4 Ashes Christian Co’s online store wwwdiscoverb4acom. Aloe Vera Gel is also a great natural moisturizer to use following a wax. You can find a quality brand at your local whole foods store or VitaminShoppe.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #3: Try Wax at home or use a depilatory cream made to remove your specific hair. If you are really savvy, you can do your own waxing. But, I have discovered that this is often a mess. Depilatory creams, although better than shaving, are not a top choice due to their chemical composition. So why even recommend these? Because they are still worthy of consideration.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #4: Make sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs to fight the bacteria that cause hair bumps.  Take Flax Oil to flush your system. Daily take Vitamin C to boost your immune system. This will help.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #5: If you must shave, be sure to do it right. Improper techniques will only cause more bumps. Thus, you should shave in the same manner your hair grows. Cleanse the area you are about to shave with an anti-bacterial soap, such as Safeguard (synthentic) or Beauty 4 Ashes HBD Cleanser (all natural). There is a formula of Safeguard that actually includes Aloe Vera that may be more helpful. However, it is not as affective as Beauty 4 Ashes HBD Cleanser, which contains essential oil that kill hair bump causing bacteria.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #6: Clean all your razors with hot water and alcohol before and after use. Discard al razors after being used for one week.

How to Eliminate Black Women’s Hair Bumps- Step #7:Do not place heavy makeup on your hair bumps. This will only cause more skin irritation, whether the makeup is noncomedogenic or not.

Hair bumps on the vagina, you can take a hot wash cloth and put talble salt on it. Hold it on the area until it cools off. let it air dry. The salt drys it out and draws the hair out.
Be sure not to make the wash cloth so hot that it burns you. I got this tip from my gyno.

I used to get a lot of razor bumps when I used to shave.as an african american woman these razor bumps were also accompanied by ingrown hairs.I was very ashamed and products I used didn't do a well enough job for me.so I recently stopped using razors and began using nair and the improvement was drastic.no more bumps or ingrown hairs.also I had a lot of little dark scars on my bikini area caused by me picking at my skin to pull out the ingrown hairs.as I began to exfoliate daily and use cocoa butter most of those marks have faded.I hope the rest fade before summer returns.I wish I had came upon this article years ago and saved myself the torment.razors weren't made for black skin.try natural waxing or use depilatory creams instead, and drink lots of water to flush toxins from ur blood.

What can I use as an alternative to shaving my face. The hair is more of a stubble now, so I don't think nair will work. There's also a lot of dark spots and ingrown hair. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Use an electric shaver for your face.  If you shave with a razor, it will sharpen the hair to a point so that it could easily curl and dig back into your skin.  Use Tend Skin Liquid for the ingrown hair and bumps.  It doesn't smell that great, but it works wonders!

After I shave my vagina I get little zits on my vagina how do I stop that and right by my vagina hole I shaved there and it now won't stop itching how can I make that stop?

The itching is probably due to secretions from your vagina, and no hair there to absorb it....  try wearing a small pantyliner if you feel this is the problem, or leaving just a little bit of hair around the opening next time.  After all, that is what the hair is there to do, ... protect the skin.  =)

I have hair on my stomach area. I use to shave it off but i stopped because I noticed visible scars. Is there anyway I can get those scars to go away. I'm so self conscious when it comes to showing my body because of my stomach. Any ideas?

after years of shaving ive recently started to get my face chin and neck threaded it has greatly reduced the stubborness of my excessive facial hair .problem now is i have so much ingrown hair. in an effort to bring them to the surface i tried one of those  ingrown hair treatment creams and it made these nasty bumps.now that i have a good natural hair removal technique what can i do to repair my skin without  these nasty breakouts

Try shaving with Cetaphil (lots of it + water) since its very safe for very sensitive skin. I really recommend it since I have hyperpigmentation. Plus size about Cetaphil is you can get a big ole jug of it for cheap at local store :)
