What it self esteem? According to Webster it means “a confidence and satisfaction in oneself." Human self esteem develops through all of our lives. Self esteem is how a person feels about them self. Human’s need 1 positive thing to block out 1 negative thing. Every body has there up’s and down’s in life. If you have more down’s then up’s then you tend to lose your self esteem and become sad and dull and not think of your self very much. Basically if you lose your self esteem then you feel that every one else is better then you. This is not true. Every human being is great in his/her own way.

Numerous children grow up in the constant dread of being laughed at. Ridicule of children is well nigh criminal. It retains its effect on the soul of the child, and is transferred into the habits and actions of his adulthood In U.S teens have a very low self esteem. For teens and young adults there are some things that are more important to them then they are to a normal adult of 30 years old. Scholastic competence athletic competence peer likeability physical appearance and behavioral conduct are only some of them. As teens become young adults they have three more things to worry about. Romantic appeal close friendship and job competence."

Self esteem is very important for teen sand adults. Peer pressure makes high school very hard for some teens that are not as out going as some other kids. Athletic kids some times unknowingly make fun of kids that are not so athletic. Every girl wants to be a cheer leader but some times the weight problems or some other issues like they are shy or not as pretty makes them think less of them self. In young adults years teens don’t know there inner beauty as they would in the years to come. It is very important for the parents to help there kids with these kinds of problems. Most parents don’t even know there kid’s teachers name. In this society people are so over whelmed with work and other stuff that some times they ignore there kids. Even though it is not totally parents fault. Parents should take time to get to know there kids and encourage them. Tell them that they can do anything and that they are there for them always.

Some people say that that type of thing would never happen to their kids or there family, but that is not true. In USA alone there is a depressed teen in every 3 teens. Some times they look as normal as any one else but there inside is screaming for attention. If every adult take 10 minutes every day and give there kid’s attention that they deserve then maybe we won’t have that problem. 30% of American teens commit suicide every year. Teens are our future maybe we should care more.
