Did you ever have some say you were an accident? Well God says otherwise. You are not an accident. Your parents might not have planned you, but God did. He made you for a specific purpose. So let’s look at what that purpose is.

To Know and Believe God

God’s Word was written so we could know and believe God. 2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV says “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Everything contained in it is for our benefit, to know about God, to learn to trust Him so we would believe Him. When we open our self up to God’s Word, we allow Him to enable us to receive His truth. Only God’s Word can change the way we think, if we’ll let it.

To Know the Real You

Reading God’s Word not only teaches us about God, but it reveals the truth about our self. Romans 3:23 NKJV says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." There is not one human being who hasn’t fallen short. Romans 6:23 NKJV says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Every one of us has the same “sin" condition. That means we all need of a Savior and not just any savior. We need Jesus Christ God’s Son who came to earth, lived as human, chose to take your sin and mine upon Himself, died on the cross and rose again to forgive our sin.

To Love and Worship God

Romans 5:8 NKJV says “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Once we get a clear picture of God, our own sinfulness, and accept Jesus’ work on the cross on our behalf, we are able to love and worship God. We love because God first loved us and sent His Son to die for us (1 John 4:19). Why do we worship? Because He’s worth it, He gave His everything to save us even while we were sinners.

To Serve Others in Love

While we love God, we are also called to love others. Look at what Mark 12:29-31 NKJV says “Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one . And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these." We love others by serving them. When we do serve others, it is as though we are doing it for Jesus Himself.

To Live Forever with Him

We were made to live forever. No, not our physical bodies but our souls will live forever after this life is gone. John 14:6 NKJV says “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Those who believe have confidence in the Lord and know they will be with Him in heaven. Have you made the decision of where you spend eternity yet? No time like the present. Romans 10:9 NKJV says “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Pray something like the following and mean it from your heart:

Lord Jesus, I now know I am a sinner. I believe you are the Son of God who died to pay for my sins. I ask you to come into my life, forgive me and save me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

In summary the meaning of life is to know and believe God, to know the real you, to love and worship God, to serve others in love and to live forever in heaven. You were made on purpose to carry these things out and when you do you bring glory to God.
