It is impossible to find the beginning of the supposition of evolution. There is evidence that it was proposed several hundred years before Charles Darwin made his infamous “Voyage of the Beagle". But without a doubt, he made the largest impact with his doctrines of “survival of the fittest" or “natural selection" and even more so with his book “On the Origin of Species". The fact that he found similarities in several different species and that he found finches with varying shapes of beaks, convinced him that all life came from a single life form.
Zowie! Is that scientific evidence or what? But his presentation of these things struck the atheistic segment of the scientific community as brilliant. Of all the species from amoeba to man, how on earth could there not be some similarities? And why should there not be finches with different type beaks? (Not that it matters. The finches were still all finches.) Virtually everyone acknowledges that there is evolution (microevolution) within species. But on the other hand, virtually everyone knows that there is no evolving between different species. Only those of the atheistic persuasion who will believe anything other than some supernatural power.
Once this figment of their imagination was figmented, they set out with a zealous charge, knowing within themselves that an expanded effort in the archaeological field would bring forth many transitional fossils. But after a few years of nothing, even Darwin became concerned. Concerning the absence of such intermediate fossils, he said: “...[this] is the most obvious and gravest objection which can be urged against my theory."
Nevertheless, he and others kept their confidence that time would resolve the problem. Wrong! Now, one hundred and fifty years later, not one transitional fossil has been found. Many are discouraged but they will not allow that to become public knowledge for fear their grant monies will dry up.
The challenge that here confronts evolution is not isolated but pervasive, and comes up most flagrantly in what’s called the Cambrian Explosion. In a very brief window of time during the geological period known as the Cambrian, virtually all the basic animal types appeared suddenly in the fossil record with no trace of evolutionary ancestors. The Cambrian Explosion so flies in the face of evolution that paleontologist Peter Ward wrote, “If ever there was evidence suggesting Divine Creation, surely the Precambrian and Cambrian transition, known from numerous localities across the face of the earth, is it." Note that Ward is not a creationist.. (Five Questions Evolutionists Would Like to Dodge. William A. Dembski http://www.designinference.com/)
The main weakness is an explanation of how species evolved. Although evolutionists admit they don't adequately understand how evolution happened, the fact that it happened is not negotiable. But the problem with that stand is not that they only don’t know how it happened but they refuse to acknowledge facts that prove that it could not have happened. They love to refer to their theories and suppositions as being scientific, but the instant they find themselves faced with a scientific blank wall, they begin to ridicule that particular wall.
"Despite the bright promise that paleontology provides a means of 'seeing' evolution, it has presented some nasty difficulties for evolutionists the most notorious of which is the presence of 'gaps' in the fossil record. Evolution requires intermediate forms between species and paleontology does not provide them." (
Evolution, 28:467) (Kitts, David B., evolutionist and paleontologist "Search for the Holy Transformation," review of Evolution of Living Organisms, by Pierre-P. Grassé, Paleobiology, vol. 5, 1979, p. 353-354)
"Paleontologists have paid an enormous price for Darwin's argument. We fancy ourselves as the only true students of life's history, yet to preserve our favored account of evolution by natural selection we view our data as so bad that we almost never see the very process we profess to study. ...The history of most fossil species includes two features particularly inconsistent with gradualism: 1. Stasis. Most species exhibit no directional change during their tenure on earth. They appear in the fossil record looking much the same as when they disappear; morphological change is usually limited and directionless. 2. Sudden appearance. In any local area, a species does not arise gradually by the steady transformation of its ancestors; it appears all at once and 'fully formed.'"
(Gould, Stephen J. The Panda's Thumb, 1980, p. 181-182)
"Paleontologists are traditionally famous (or infamous) for reconstructing whole animals from the debris of death. Mostly they cheat. ...If any event in life's history resembles man's creation myths, it is this sudden diversification of marine life when multicellular organisms took over as the dominant actors in ecology and evolution. Baffling (and embarrassing) to Darwin, this event still dazzles us and stands as a major biological revolution on a par with the invention of self-replication and the origin of the eukaryotic cell. The animal phyla emerged out of the Precambrian mists with most of the attributes of their modern descendants."
(Bengtson, Stefan, "The Solution to a Jigsaw Puzzle," Nature, vol. 345 (June 28, 1990), p. 765-766)
"The gaps in the record are real, however. The absence of any record of any important branching is quite phenomenal. Species are usually static, or nearly so, for long periods, species seldom and genera never show evolution into new species or genera but replacement or one by another, and change is more or less abrupt."
(Wesson, R., Beyond Natural Selection, 1991, p. 45)
One can readily see the frustration that exists among those scientists who refuse to acknowledge intelligent design. They see the problems but they just know there are explanations somewhere that will explain all of the dead-end roadblocks. They know that somewhere the answer is there and the future will reveal it to them.
For once they are exactly right, the explanations and answers are there and in the future, they will be revealed to them…even those who are unbelievers.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7)
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Revelation 14:11)
