My family and friends as well as my husband and I have been using this formula for over four years.  This formula will bring your hair back to it's natural color as well as get rid of the gray.

INGREDIENTS

2 C. Distilled bottled water

1 c. Rosemarry (can be found in most grocery stores in the produced department.  Comes in small packages and you will need two of them)

1 Lg or med bottle of baby shampoo (Dollar Store brand ok).

Put the water and rosemary (stems and all) in a microwave safe bowl (I use a plastic 12 c. measuring cup) and nuke for about 5 minutes or until water boils.  Remove from microwave and cover and allow to steep for 5 minutes.  Remove rosemary and disgard.  Add shampoo and mix throughly.  Will make two bottles of shampoo.  The shampoo will be thin and will not suds up on the first time of use because of the previous hair products you have used and also if your hair is dirty or oily.  But when you shampoo again it will have more suds then you can imagine.  The shampoo strips all the residue from products and enviornment without stripping the natural oils found in your hair.  You will notice after about a week that your hair will stay cleaner and if you have gray in your hair it will be gone.  You may also have to have your hair cut more often because it also makes your hair grow.  I have to get my hair cut once a month where as before it was every three months.  My mother, who is 83, uses this shampoo and has no gray hair.  Some close friends of our also use it, he is bald on top and has notice hair starting to grow back.

Another one is if you wish to have blond hair for the summer you can use chamomile tea.  Simply make a tea and wet your hair with it and go out in the sun.  You will notice a gradual change in your color.  You can also use the same recipe as above but substitute chamomile tea for the rosemary.

Another way of keeping gray (hair) at bay is take 50 gms of henna, add very little water and one small spoonfull beatroot juice and some tea freshly boiled but without sugar, make a paste and apply on your head once in a week. I will keep this shampoo recipe in my mind.

The great thing about this recipe is that you can find the ingredients quickly and it's so easy. I grow my own rosemary and therefore can make a bottle or two when ever I want. I have no idea where to get henna.

Ingredients? Is that 2 c (cups) distilled water? 1 c (cup) rosemary or 2 paks of rosemary? Should I use the whole bottle of baby shampoo?

It is 1 cup of rosemary and if you go to the store to buy your rosemary it will take 2 pkgs. and yes a whole bottle of baby shampoo

Thank you for this great recipe. I will definitely try it. Do you think that any shampoo will work? Also will the recipe with chamomile help get rid of gray or just lighten? Thank you!

I know it works because my mother is 84 and she uses it and has no grey hair.

Also, the chamomile tea will only lighten it. It's just another way of coloring your hair without the worry of chemicals.

Oh, and I forgot to ask. How many shampoos did it take to notice a difference? Is rosemary just for brunettes?

My mother used it only twice and her hair was changing back to her orignal color and after a week of using it she had turned completely back to her orignal color. As for myself I didn't have any grey hair yet but after a week of washing with it I started to notice the texture of my hair changed and I was only having to shampoo two or maybe three times a week. My hair stayed cleaner longer and my hair dresser said she had never seen a healthier head of hair.

will this work to cover grays even if they have been coloured previously?

yep it will. It will take your hair back to it's natural hair color. Mine has gotten darker the more I use it. After the first week you will only have to shampoo with this shampoo once or twice a week. You can also use a conditioner with it. My husband has redish blond hair and it does the same as mine.

so you husband's hair got more reddish blond or darker as he uses it? thank you so much for putting this on the internet! i REALLY appreciate it. I've been searching high and low trying to figure out how not to use chemicals on my head to cover the gray. i will have to find a balance between getting rid of the gray with this formula and using a chamomile shampoo to keep it from getting too dark for me. what do you think of my alternating between your rosemary shampoo recipe and chamomile? THANK YOU!!!

By the way, Nirvana Chamomile shampoo is excellent for naturally lightenining hair (not drastically but more like toning your hair down with lighter highlights) and Nirvana Clove shampoo is excellent for adding darker tones. Does not cover gray

I used this formula for 10 days with no results at all. I wanted a safe alternative for coloring my hair because I have too much gray in it. This does nothing at all..I am very dissapointed. I will continue to use it in hopes that it may start to work.

I am so sorry that it didn't work for you.  I have made this shampoo for about 15 people now and all of them no longer have grey hair.  Did you use fresh rosemary and not the dried?  Let me know what you did so I can help you.

You use fresh rosemary.  I have found other formulas that use dried but this one calls for fresh.

This article was very helpful as I was looking for a natural way to colour my hair in place of chemicals which I have been using for some time.

This sounds absolutely amazing and I cant wait to try it.  I have been colouring my hair for a few years now and it has resulted in very dry, brittle hair which breaks easily.  Living in a hot climate doesnt help either as it just turns frizzy.  My question is - how many times a week, at the outset, should I use this herbal coloring and how soon will I see beneficial results?

My husband and I used it three times a week for the first week and after that twice a week.

Yes it will work for anyone who already has or someone is getting gray hairs.

1 c. of fresh rosemarry
2 c. of distilled water
1 bottle of baby shampoo or castile soap

Put water and rosemarry in micro-safe bowl or into a pot on the stove.  In the microwave it will take only 5 min. in a pot it will be just before it boils (there will be small bubbles form around the edges of water, then let the rosemary and water steep for about 5 min.  Strain the rosemary and disgard.  Add the shampoo or soap which ever you use.  You will need two bottles to put the shampoo in because from that one bottle of shampoo you will get two very thin (consistancy) bottles of shampoo.
The first time you use the shampoo there will be no suds because this is the time when the shampoo is working on getting rid of any hair products and anything from the enviorment that your hair has picked up.  Do not put the shampoo in your hand to apply, apply directly to your hair.  The second shampoo you should get suds if not then it may take another shampooing to clean your hair.  This shampoo will bring your hair back to it's natural state and color.  It will take about three days to get rid of the gray after that you can use it once or twice a week and on the days that you don't use this shampoo you can use your regular shampoo.  You can also use conditioner with this.
If you have any more questions give me a holler.
