Are you about to resign from your current employer? Are you unsure about how to write a letter of resignation? In this article I am going to give an example of what people write in their letter of resignation, I hope it proves useful and beneficial to many people, and good luck with the new job!

When leaving a company it is important that we leave on positive terms. We may have been unhappy with the way that we have been treated, we may have felt that they did not pay us a fair salary and we may also have felt that the training provided was inadequate. Despite all of this and any other greviance we may have had, there is absolutely no point in mentioning it. Some people may say that the satisfaction is worth it but that is just being childish. The fact is we are leaving and that should be enough satisfaction.

A letter of resignation

I am writing to inform you of my intention to terminate my employment on 07/02/2007(this date will need to be changed). I am therefore serving you with the four weeks period of notice as required in my terms and conditions of employment.

I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to take the first steps in a career within financial services, for the support you have provided and for the belief you have shown in me as I made those first steps. I am sure the experience I have gained will stand me in good stead as my career progresses.

I would like to wish you and my former colleagues every success in the future.

Your's faithfully,

Mr Ian Smith

Some of the above text will need to change to whichever career you are in and to suit your personal circumstances.
