Learning to write a bicycle is an important developmental step for young children the world over, often providing the first taste of freedom and independence to a child.
The problem with being stable...
German Rolf Merten (Kokua Holzspielzeug, inventor of the Likeabike) discovered traditional bicycles used by small children, with stabilisers and pedals, actually HAMPER the child's ability to learn to ride.
Stabilisers on the bike give the child a false sense of security, preventing them from developing a sense of equilibrium and balance - making the progression from stabilised riding to pedal power alone a difficult one.
Getting the balance right...
In contrast, the pedal-free like-a-bike is the perfect introduction to cycling for little ones - playfully teaching children to balance and control their movements. The like a bike is aimed at toddlers aged two and up who otherwise would be too young to ride a traditional bicycle.
Riding the wooden "running" trainer bike allows the child to develop a sense of balance and equilibrium. Using their feet to move the wooden bike and keep balance, kids will learn how to stay upright and travel with their feet firmly OFF the ground!
Children who have acquired confidence riding at a young age with a Likeabike trainer bike will find the progression to a push bike far easier as they grow up.
Fun and healthy...
As well as teaching a child to ride a bike, the Likabike running bike encourages children and families to get outside and discover new environments in a healthy, playful and most importantly, FUN way!
