Frankly, no. Many people try to profess Christianity with belief in God and the Bible while incorporating evolution into it. It is fine to be a peace maker and try to give everything a fair shake but these two things are diametrically opposed. If you accept the Bible, it requires that you believe it without reservation. If it is inspired (God breathed) of God and God is omnipotent, omniscient, then his word is, of necessity, true in all cases. If it is not inspired of God, then it is not worth the paper it is printed on.
We realize that there are errors of translation in all of the various versions of the Bible, yet there are adequate ancient copies of the book to allow the understanding and meaning of its oracles. Scholars have compared these various documents with painstaking meticulous care to assure that the meanings are still intact.
With these things in mind, how can anyone say that God did not create this universe with all that is in it by speaking the word? Does it help to say that He created an amoebae and let it go through millennium after millennium to finally become a college professor with a PhD in paleontology? Can you tell me why He would consider doing that? His Holy scriptures teach differently and I believe they are correct.
Is God limited in power? Could He create matter, then direct activity with it to eventually have an amoebae, somehow, come to life in a sea of primordial soup with the ability to reproduce itself, easier than creating a full grown universe? If He had intentions of having man on this earth, but had to wait through eons of time to achieve it…He’s not all that powerful, is He?
The language in the first chapter of Genesis leaves no room for compromise. It specifies, along with the things He accomplishes, that the evening and the morning were the first day…the second day, etc. The writer of the book was inspired. He wrote according to the direction of God. It was the Jewish manner of speaking to refer to a literal day as the evening and the morning, or morning and the evening. Now, God would have had to put a lie into the words of the writer, or the writer would have had to interject it into the revelation. Either way would destroy the inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures and render them all worthless.
There is much symbolic writings in the word of God, but this is not one of them. A rule of hermeneutics is to accept the writings as factual as written except where there is some compelling reason not to. There is no reason here to assume that this is symbolic nor is there any advantage to it. The vast ages of time proposed by atheists are arrived at simply to suit their many unfounded suppositions of how things have arrived at the point they are now.
In Genesis, 1:21, 1:25, 6:20, and 7:14, God makes it clear that living species were of separate kinds. Let’s look briefly at some assertions of materialism (evolution… I use these terms interchangeably although there are technical differences) which completely disagree with biblical truths.
(1) Evolution: Everything continues to evolve into different things and has for zillions of years.
Bible: Genesis 2:1 says: “Thus the heavens and earth were finished and all the host of them".
(2) Evolution: Creation took millions of years, so where do our seven days come into play. There is no actual seventh day.
Bible: Exodus 20:11 says: “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it"
(3) Evolution: Eve was just one link in a long chain of evolving mankind.
Bible: Genesis 3:20 says: “ And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living."
(4) Evolution: Death has been a part of living creatures for millions of years.
Bible: 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 says: For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (Death entered the world through Adam)
So, some say then, that science and religion are at odds with each other. Not so, Science and the Bible are against atheistic evolution and materialism. They take great pride in saying their way is that of science and Judeo-Christianity is in opposition to science. But let’s look at that. They take an unsubstantiated supposition and call it fact and say that is a scientific hypothesis. But after 150 years of disappointment after disappointment, they simply turn in another direction and say, that is what scientists do.
But, they have found the answer time after time only to reject it because it is not Materialistic. The physics law of causality leads one back to a final effect, without a material adequate antecedent cause!! The reason is that there is no such explanation for existence of the universe. The answer lies only in the fact that there is an all powerful, all wise Spirit Being who is unfettered by materialistic restrictions.
The same thing happens with the first and second laws of thermodynamics. You cannot make something from nothing (First Law) and all matter and energy is constantly moving into disorder. Entropy is increasing all the time (Second Law), so this rules out completely the possibility that matter has existed forever. There is no answer except for an all powerful, all wise Spirit Being who is unfettered by materialistic restrictions.
Then, to put the lid on the jar, we have the Holy Bible which has proven it’s infallibility since it was written. Hundreds of detailed prophecies have been fulfilled over hundreds, even thousands of years. It has been proven time and again to be geographically and scientifically accurate. Many times, it has proven true after years of ridicule for having said something that was otherwise unknown, until archaeology discovered it’s truths. (for one instance, the Hittite nation.)
Atheists contend that radioactive materials and other matter prove that the earth is much more than 6,000-10,000 years old. How so, because of the amount of radioactivity that is in them and the lack of it due to it’s half-life expectancy. This is nonsensical. God created man full grown. There is no indication whatsoever that he created any babies or very young of anything. Trees, herbs, fish. Why then would he build the earth in a condition of infancy? If God had created the earth of all new materials with the conditions they now exist under, the earth would not have been able to support life. Since the earth was created for man, it was of necessity built to accommodate him with the necessary elements at their necessary balanced strengths.
No, the atheistic evolutionist has not one proof of his stand for macroevolution. They forever throw up the proof that there is true evolution and they cite the instances of microevolution. That is insulting. Everyone knows that and it is even illustrated in the Bible. That has nothing to do with evolution of species, kinds, orders, and the universe.
