Secret # 1.

Provide a direct link to your web site.

  • Do not put an affiliate link in your resource box, especially if you have your own web site, because it will considerably lower your click through ratios, and ultimately decrease potential revenue and opt-in subscribers.
  • For example, if you put an affiliate link in your resource box, it is much easier for a visitor to continue surfing without clicking the link, but when a visitor comes from your resource box directly to your web site page where you have more than one affiliate link that he or she can choose from, the probability is much higher that the visitor will choose to click on at least one of the links. Moreover, if you have designed your web site properly, with a subscription box, you will at least have a better chance to get the visitor to opt-in to your subscription offer whereas if the visitor goes directly from your resource box to your affiliate URL, you loose the opportunity to build your subscriber list.
  • While it may, at times, be permissible at some websites to feature a redirect page for your affiliate link in your resource box, nevertheless, the former is the preferred method, especially when you have your own web site.
  • For those of you who are not yet familiar with what a redirect page is, it is simply a page on your web site that automatically redirects a visitor to another web site. The command to redirect is set up via your control panel (If you need additional information on how to set up a redirect page, send an email to me at Richard@softwarepak.biz and I will assist you Free).

Secret # 2.

Give away something free.

  • Do not try to sell anything in your resource box.
  • Give away a free ebook, software, or email course, etc.

Secret # 3.

Keep the theme of your resource box similar to the theme of your article.

  • For example, do not write an article about prescription drugs, if you are giving away a free ebook or software on how to care for your pet. If your article is about prescription drugs, the free ebook or software that you are giving away should also be about prescription drugs.

Secret # 4.

Provide a click able link to your web page.

  • Include an email address or auto responder address, if you are giving away something free, such as a free ebook, software, etc,
  • Test the link to make sure it is working.

Secret # 5.

Do put your name in the resource box.

  • People will only get to know you, if you tell them who you are!
  • If you are offering a free ebook, for example, it should read, "Richard Driver is providing a free ebook"

Secret # 6.

Do provide an email address where people can subscribe to your newsletter or offer.

  • Test the email link to make sure it is working.
  • If people have to go to your web site to search for a subscription link, they will oftentimes decide against subscribing.

Secret # 7.

Do not exceed the recommended 4 lines maximum.

  • Four lines is adequate space to give something away free.
  • Most people will not read beyond 4 lines in a resource box.
  • The last line should always display a web site or email address link that has been tested to insure that it is working.

A resource box is a fantastic marketing tool, only if it is properly designed. This is easily achieved when you use the above techniques. Remember, your objective via the resource box is to get them to click the link and see your offer.
