As a child growing up in southern Maine in the summertime I would enjoy very much playing baseball with friends. We would gather enough kids to form teams and we would play most of the time in open fields.

Although I enjoyed playing the game I never at that time took an interest in the professional games and never became a fan of any major league team. Being from Maine our state did not have and still do not have a major league team to represent our state. ( Maine does have a farm team "the Sea Dogs" an affiliate of the Red Sox) As Mainers most everybody were and to this day are Boston Red Sox fans.

After I got out of the service in 1969, my oldest brother and his two sons were really into the game and of course Red Sox fans. Thats when I too took an interest in the game and became a big Red Sox fan myself.

Since then every year I keep up with the latest statistics and watch the games on TV when possible or if I can't get the games on television I can always keep up with them on the internet through gameday

Im not as close to Fenway Park as I use to be for now I live in Florida. So its rather hard to go see a home game live at the stadium. Although when they play the "Tampa Bay Devil Rays" I do have the opportunity to go see them play since the game isn't too far away. In fact they begin a three game stand with the Devil Rays tonight my niece is going to see Sunday's game.

The Red Sox have been in the lead all season however they have been doing badly the last few games they've played. They are now only 1.5 games ahead of the second place Yankees in the American league east.

They took the world series in 2004 the first time in 86 years. I'm hoping they will go all the way again this year. They do have a good chance to take it again.

I just went to check on the game (now in progress) the sox lead the Devil Rays 3 to 1 going into the top of the 4 th .

Thank you for commenting Susan. Yeah it don't take too much intellect to understand the simplicity in this article. Only a little sportsmanship and an interest in the game of baseball.

Hi David, I've been reading your articles regularly for quite some time. I may have even left a comment a time or two. Today, I have a question for you. Is the current picture at the top just temporary until you have a new one to put up? I really liked the last one a lot and now miss the David I had become acquainted with. I hope you will consider my request.

I don't know how to take this comment anonymous. I don't know if it's a joke or if you are serious. I didn't know I had a secret admirer, ha ha. As far as the picture is concern I kind of like it better than the other one, it shows my bald head.
