The Grand Canyon has enough to see so that you can keep yourself busy for many hours or even days because there is so much to see there.  Set off by the Colorado River, the steep cliffs of The Grand Canyon can expose 2 billion years of the Earth's history. Whether you are into site seeing, hiking, or just checking out an unbelievable view, the canyon will have an experience waiting for you.

The canyon is located in Arizona about 120 miles from Las Vegas and there are many other canyons across the other states in the US.  It was not explored much until after the Civil War. Today, it is visited by many and is home to one of the oldest US National Parks - the Grand Canyon National Park. It's a beautiful area with much to do and see. The Grand Canyon has over 275 miles of scenery, in some places, is over 1 mile deep. While there are deeper canyons, there are none that are known for their beautiful color like the Grand Canyon.

There are many things you can do when you visit the canyon as it has the famous skywalk where you can walk on glass that is about 4,000 feet above the grand canyon floor.  The skywalk sticks out about 65 feet in the canyon. The railway is another way to check out the canyon and some of the views you get from this can be breathtaking.  This is great for people who just want to relax and have the train give them a tour of the entire canyon.  If you are into hiking and enjoy exploring yourself then the skyway may be the better option.

The temperatures in the grand canyon are much like the desert climate that you would get in other cities in Arizona like Tuscon and Phoenix as it is mostly dry and hot.  However in the winter months the temperatures of the grand canyon can drop to below 0 degrees farenhiet.  If you are planning a trip to the canyon check for tour information an operators as they can make your experience more pleasurable than trying to check everything out on your own.
