Keifer was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, for suspicion of DUI.
Keifer, was pulled over on the grounds that he took an illegal u-turn, and then it was discovered he had a blood alcohol level of 0.08%, which is over the limit in America . He was taken downtown, and booked at about 4 oclock in the morning, and was back out on bail by quarter to 6am, released on $25 grand, bail.
On Tuesday, Keifer Sutherland didnt contest the charges brought against him for drinking and driving. Keifer didnt attend the court hearing, and his lawyer Blair Berk, put in the no contest plea, and after some bargaining, Keifer was given a 30 day jail sentence, which will be officially be ordered on December 21 st , just before Christmas, and there he will remain for 18 days. Subsequently, he will have until the 31 st of July to complete his 30 days time served. He also was ordered to undergo alcohol ed classes, and alcohol therapy sessions as well.
Fox Officials had made a statement, saying, the actors plea bargain has ensured the television show, 24 will not be interrupted. Keifer will be out in January, which is plenty of time to continue in the show, and Keifer has deeply apologized to 20 th Century Fox for his poor judgment.
Keifer has made it clear to the public, that he is full of regret for his stupid actions, and that he apologizes to the members of the team on his show, 24, his family, friends and fans.
Keifer has been arrested on and off since about 1993, for reckless behavior due to alcohol consumption, or over indulgence as the cases have been. Hes been known as Hollywood s party man, and his reckless lifestyle has hit the papers, and his photos have hit several online party sites, on a few occasions. It might sound mean, but its good for him to get tripped up, apparently he needs this wake up call to show him the errors of his ways, and hopefully this will turn his life around, and he will get the help he needs for his errors in judgment.
Keifer is such a wonderful actor, he is so passionate about any role that he takes, and delivers with all of his heart, and soul. In recent celeb articles Ive written, Ive stressed about the danger of becoming uninsurable in Hollywood , and that reckless behavior can actually force you out by the insurance companies, not the Studios. If Keifer was my bud, Id tell him like it is, because I care, and hed know, that reckless behavior has a more powerful blow than fame, in the eyes of the insurance.
Keifer also sounds soo sincere in his regret, and concern for his fellow co-workers on 24. Apparently he doesnt want to let anyone down, not his family, not his friends, not the studio, not even his fans. He did apologize, and is doing the time for his crime.. but if he doesnt utilize on the help he will receive, it could happen again, and we all want to see his career stay in top shape, and Im sure his fans are all routing for him.
