It never ceases to be an astonishment when men and institutions of high repute and standing, disappoint the public by showing their true colors. A perfect illustration was in the Anniston Alabama Anniston Star daily paper on 10/14/07. An article entitled “Global Warming Remains Low On Americans’ Radar with the reporter bemoaning the fact that Americans don’t seem to get the urgency of the problem. And adjacent to it was another article entitled Top Meteorologist Calling Gore Out On Warming Theory. This article by a reporter citing “One of the world’s foremost meteorologists”, Dr. William Gray, for condemning the entire hypothesis of global warming and also the granting of a share of the Nobel prize to Al Gore for promoting the farce.
Alfred B. Nobel, a Swedish chemist and engineer who invented dynamite, died in 1893 at age 63 and left in his will 9 million dollars to establish the Nobel Prizes. There are six of them namely: peace, literature, physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine and economic science. Since their inception there have been some great men recognized for their efforts in those fields. But within the past decade or so, it has become obvious that those who sit on the judgement seat for those prizes, choose only those who share their own ideology, more than for their efforts and achievements. Without intending criticism of either person, the peace prize has come up short. Yasser Arafat, Sister Teresa, Jimmy Carter, and Al Gore? Come on, for crying out loud.
But, our discussion is about global warming so let’s get back to it. Are we actually experiencing global warming? Yes, but how much and why are the important questions. Read carefully the following statement:
“The temperature of the atmosphere fluctuates over a wide range, the result of solar activity and other influences. During the past 3,000 years, there have been five extended periods when it was distinctly warmer than today. One of the two coldest periods, known as the Little Ice Age, occurred 300 years ago. Atmospheric temperatures have been rising from that low for the past 300 years, but remain below the 3,000-year average.” [Science Has Spoken: Global Warming Is a Myth. by Arthur B. Robinson and Zachary W. Robinson The Wall Street Journal (December 4, 1997)]
“The debate over how much to cut emissions has at times been heated--but the entire enterprise is futile or worse. For there is not a shred of persuasive evidence that humans have been responsible for increasing global temperatures. What's more, carbon dioxide emissions have actually been a boon for the environment“. [Ibid]
The conclusions of those statements are not opinion, but scientific facts. So we have no reason to fear the “global warming” issue unless it reaches several times the increase it has done in the past 300 years because the atmospheric temperature is still much lower than it has been during the 3000 year period mentioned above. Plus , hydrocarbons released into the atmosphere are highly beneficial to the environment. Studies since 1950 have shown a tremendous increase in tree growth per year and Amazonian rain forests show an astounding annual growth of 2 tons biomass per acre.
The National Geographic News, February 28, 2007 reports: “Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet's recent climate changes have a natural—and not a human-induced—cause, according to one scientist's controversial theory.” Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia says that a long term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars. But the National Geographic News is quick to point out that the majority of scientists are in disagreement with Abdussamatov.
There is almost an endless list of notable scientists and organizations who give thumbs down to the myth of human caused global warming. Read this recent article:
WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 /2007PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new analysis of peer-reviewed literature reveals that more than 500 scientists have published evidence refuting at least one element of current man-made global warming scares. More than 300 of the scientists found evidence that 1) a natural moderate 1,500-year climate cycle has produced more than a dozen global warmings similar to ours since the last Ice Age and/or that 2) our Modern Warming is linked strongly to variations in the sun's irradiance. "This data and the list of scientists make a mockery of recent claims that a scientific consensus blames humans as the primary cause of global temperature increases since 1850," said Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Dennis Avery.
And another recent report:
August 20, 2007/WorldNet/Daily.com
A major new scientific study
concludes the impact of carbon dioxide emissions on worldwide temperatures is largely irrelevant, prompting one veteran meteorologist to quip, "You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide."
That comment comes from Reid Bryson, founding chairman of the Department of Meteorology at the University of Wisconsin, who said the temperature of the earth is increasing, but that it's got nothing to do with what man is doing.
"Of course it's going up. It has gone up since the early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we're coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we're putting more carbon dioxide into the air."
So, why are so many scientists divided over this phenomenon? Many of them are ecstatic over the fact that there is a new scam that they can bilk multi-billions of dollars in grants to try and head off an imaginary catastrophe. I know that remark sounds like some jerk who has no clue of what is going on. But it might help a little if you read another of my articles “Evolutionists Credibility Has Bottomed Out .” These are the same boys pulling the wool over the general public and the grant donors.
In the beginning of this article, I mentioned the stand taken by Dr. William Gray, a top meteorologist and pioneer in the science of seasonal hurricane forecasts. After giving considerable evidence to refute the idea of human causes of global warming had these last words to say after admitting that his beliefs had made him an outsider in popular science: “The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures. It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong. But they also know that they’d never get any grants if they spoke out. I don’t care about grants.”
There are millions of dollars annually which are granted to these various “scientific” research organizations, and there is no question that much of it is producing great discoveries in medicine and technology but a tremendous amount is being wasted in an effort to prove worthless and false ideologies. Some research into such things as origins, types of evolution and such, are beneficial, however, many millions of taxpayer dollars as well as grants from other institutions are being spent in an effort for nothing more than to prove unfounded and unprovable hypotheses. It is past time that our government put restrictions on the spending of grant funds to scientists so that it is strictly shown the objective for which it was used. The government tries to police most programs, for instance Medicare and Medicaid. If a medical doctor is found to be submitting fraudulent charges to these agencies, he will be subject to severe penalties as indeed he should be. The government of China is taking steps to see that fraudulent activities are stopped in their scientific community since a series of scandals occurred in that body during 2006. But the American scientists can commit mafia-like actions with impunity, such as socially crucifying one of their own if he so much as mentions something like Intelligent Design or anything else contrary to their ideology.
We all need to challenge our elected representatives to see that closer scrutiny be given to these huge grants.

Grants from who? I don't get where the money is coming from other than on the other side...which is obvously the oil companies. I'm not sure on either side but with a very strong science background, it's hard not to look at the obvious fact that as you increase CO2, you increase temperature. Also, what if it is true? Wouldn't it be better to work on alternative methods of energy coupled with energy conservation? You save money in the long run, you save on pollution...after all, the emissions are not only CO2. LA would be a heck of a lot cleaner and healthier to live. If we are wrong about global warming, then at least we did some things that will benefit man kind in the future. Too much arguing...why not pick the side that has less unfavorable outcomes? Just a thought. Respond to this comment

Thanks Ben, for your comment. To answer your first question, Grants from who? There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, many I do not know of, but most of the larger nations such as the U.S., China, Russia, France, Britain, Germany, etc., all pour huge amounts of taxpayer money into the large scientific laboratories, as do many large corporate foundations such as the Ford (not Ford autos) foundation, NephCure, American Honda, National Geographic, and on and on. Where do you think these thousands of highly paid scientists are paid from?
Your next statement is incorrect, it has been shown historically that a rise in CO2 follows a rise in temperature, not precedes it. And, as to any attempt to stop global warming, there is almost a consensus among scientists that we cannot stop it but only slightly slow it down, even at a cost of trillions (not billions) of dollars. Dollars needed far more to find cures for health problems, stop world terrorism, and so on.
We need to fight air pollution but that is a different division of this problem. Local air pollution and atmospheric temperature increase are different areas. The point is, our atmospheric temperature is not nearly as high as it has been in several times past and the evidences show that solar activity is the cause as it has been in those past times of increase. There is not much we can do about that except pray the activity reverses as it has throughout history. But this becoming frantic over the sound of it when the true scientific facts point at something other than man made pollutions is dangerous. Thanks again for your comment.
