The Flickering Light

The Night proved long with its attempt to snuff the Light,
the night withered while the light grew bright.

The flame on the wick brighten the room,
expelling the darkness that hovered and loomed.

The shadows sought shelter to hide in the night,
away from the flame, away from its light.

The flame although flickering not once made a blink,
yet the darkness though deepening like a ship it did sink.

High in its corner the lamp stand stood,
bearing the lamp, bearing the good.

With silence and night fall held at bay,
that flame in the night would not go away.

Let us learn from this teacher, this flickering light,
light dispels darkness, it's not consumed by the night.

This is dedicated to all those who have hope in this cold, dark world.
The light will never be overcome by the darkness.
