George Bush is asking Congress for ANOTHER $142.3 BILLION for the war in Iraq.  This brings the total amount requested by the White House this year alone to $189.3 billion and the estimated total cost of the war so far is $650 Billion.  When the Bush Administration received the keys to the White House we had a surplus.  We are now insolvent with a national debt of more than $9,000,000,000 (that’s $9 Trillion in case the zeros are too dizzying).  Regardless of what each of us thinks of the motives or the potential outcome for the war we cannot afford it.  We are now hearing reports speculating that Dick Cheney has his sites set on Iran.  Even if we put aside the countless valid reasons to leave the rest of the world alone and look only at the finances we simply cannot afford another war, much less the two we have now.

Perhaps the overwhelming majority of Americans are not speaking loudly enough.  We want out of Iraq … now.  The majority of Americans did not want a war.  The remainder was defrauded by lies and deception.  We elected a new party to serve in the majority of Congress.  They have done nothing other than to continue the rhetoric.  It’s time we do more than just vote.  We must call our representatives in Congress, write letters, send faxes and insist on fiscal responsibility.  If they fail, we must vote them out until they listen.

I guess Jennifer, as you probably know by my writing, the question for you and many is why do you still believe the two major parties have the answer? Have they not proven they are the same time after time by vote and deed? It isn't how nice they come across or even what they say but their works. So if you, me and others are fed up, then our only choice is to make sure we VOTE, do not stay home and vote every incumbent out and replace them. Now you might say we will get no better, but here is the KEY, we will have sent a message loud and clear to those remaining and those newly elected. the otehrvote you have is with your wallet. Do not spend foolishly and seek the things thata re truly "made in America" and not those who profess to be "All American" on the outside but loaded with foreign goods on the inside. We have all had our fill of the junk these people produce, haven't you? Good job, best wishes RTM

I guess you think if Obama or Hilliary gets elected that the country is going to be so much better off. What do you think is going to happen when/if the US troops are pulled out of Iraq/Middle East? I can tell you what is going to happen. They will revert back to more terrorist activities. At least the terrorists are shooting at people that are capable of defending themselves, not unarmed civilians(a terrorists favorite target). Yes, the war in Iraq is expensive, but so is the current welfare system that promotes sitting around doing NOTHING and getting free money.
