It seems that the modern Christian world is beginning to conform to society, rather than standing apart as a distinct entity.

There was a time when describing someone as having good Christian ethics was seen as a good character trait. Nowadays the same person would more likely be described as a do-gooder or by some other equally derogatory term.

Living a good clean life and not having premarital sex is often snickered at. Fifty years ago having a baby out of wedlock was frowned upon, but today it is the norm, and no one blinks an eyelid.

Modern television and movies are most probably the biggest culprits, when it comes to reprogramming the mindset of the majority. Over the years more and more extra marital affairs, sex before marriage, nudity and even homosexuality have been portrayed on the picture screens, until it is no longer questioned as being immoral. It is now looked upon as being peoples choices.

A recent newspaper article I read was promoting the idea of friends having casual sex with no strings attached, as an alternative for those who preferred to stay single, rather than the alternative of one night stands with strangers.

Violent crimes, child abuse, car-jackings, theft and all sorts of other crimes are happening every second of every day in our modern society. Surely it is about time that as Christians we began to take a stand for the Commandments of God, which He put in place for our benefit and to protect us from each other.

Gods Ten Commandments show us how to love Him and how to love our neighbour. How much better would this world be if there was no more dishonesty, theft, murders, and crimes of hate.

Many young people have no idea what the Ten Commandments even say. Is it any wonder then that children are taking to criminal activities at younger and younger ages, when they have never been taught right from wrong.

Rebellion and free thinking is encouraged in our schools, so children dont have any issues with disobeying their parents. They need to be encouraged to understand that there is an awesome God of this universe, who has such power that He was able to create this world and everything in it, who is in heaven looking down on them and sees everything they ever do. Children need to be taught the boundaries that God put in place for their own protection.

I feel saddened when I hear some pastors teach that the Ten Commandments are done away with. Jesus Himself made it abundantly clear that the Ten Commandments were eternal in nature. Mathew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. These same pastors then complain about the number of marriage breakups in their congregations.

As Christians we need to realize that we are Gods people, and as His people we need to love and obey Him. Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk you in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. This message is as relevant today as it was when it left the lips of Jeremiah the prophet.
