Is Genesis to be accepted literally? Absolutely. If we put aside
the creation account of Genesis we have decided not to accept the Bible as
authoritative. The New Testament says:
“All scripture is
given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16. Creation falls into the area of Bible doctrine and all
Scripture is given by inspiration from God for understanding doctrine. So if Genesis is a man made, made-up
story then we can’t trust the book of 2 Timothy either. Then we also loose the books of Exodus,
Psalms, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Romans, Colossians,
Hebrews, Revelation, etc., because they all affirm the literal creation account
of Genesis. What about the Words
of Jesus? If we are going to
believe the words of Jesus, we must believe the creation account. “But
from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female." Mark 10:6. Evolutionists teach that Earth’s first creatures were
neither male nor female, but rather the simplest of life forms, such as single
celled organisms, and that millions of years passed before anything was either
male or female. We cannot then
aspire to believe in the Bible or in the words of Christ himself and hold to
the theory of evolution.
Stand firm for God the the Bible. Don't compromise your beliefs. For information about the creation/evolution debate that affirms the Bible, attend a Christian Creation Conference near you. H. S. Rester presents the Christian Creation Conference "Did Darwin Murder God?"
This conference serves a vital purpose in today’s highly
secularized world. It strengthens
the believer’s faith and challenges the seeker of the truth to trust Christ.
