My husband and I have recently discovered possibly the very best way to watch primetime television or any other shows that one might fancy.
No, I am not talking about DVR or TIVO, though those are great inventions. With those methods, you still find yourself fast-forwarding through the commercials.
I am talking about the greatest invention around-the Internet. There are countless advantages to watching shows by going online to one of the networks.
As parents, we are not always able to see the shows we like because they are most times inappropriate for our kids or we have a million other tasks to get done before the child falls asleep.
Therefore, we are not always free at 7 p.m. when the show starts. The Internet allows us to watch when we want to watch. It is a new favorite for my husband and I. There is nothing more fun then crawling into bed with the computer and watching the last episode of Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, etc.
The best part is there is either one or no commercials so you spend half the time you normally would watching in front of the tv at night. You don’t ever have to worry about missing your favorite episode because it is always at your fingertips.
This is also becoming the greatest craze among high school students. They can catch an entire show while sitting in study hall. No longer is study hall a time of twiddling thumbs when entertainment is as close as the laptop computer.
The only disadvantage that we have seen so far is that shows usually are not posted until the next day. This can be bad at work if people discuss the shows around the water cooler. You run the risk of having endings spoiled. You also can get behind in your tv watching if you are addicted to too many shows.
The only other disadvantage we have found thus far is that many times if there is a commercial it is the same one over and over. So in the end you have seen the same commercial 5 times. Seeing it over and over is enough to drive anyone insane.
So check it out go to the major networks websites NBC, ABC or CBS and get watching. They have all the hot shows from daytime soaps to primetime dramas. Then as added bonuses a lot of the sites now how discussion groups about the shows, behind the scenes looks at the actors and many other features sure to hook you in for hours. The great part is: it is free of charge. Don’t you love the Internet?
