I keep on seeing double numbers. Everywhere I look, they grab my attention. Whereas in years gone by, I can recall looking at the clock and noticing little other than the actual time... now, things have changed.
Prior to 1999, I would glance at the clock and it would say something like 10:23 or 9:34... Post-1999, in an increasing manner of occurrence, I am glancing at the clock exactly when it says 10:22 or 9:33 instead.
In fact, the reason I am writing this article is due to my frustration at being bombarded by the particular combinations of 11:11, 12:12, 12:22 and dare I say it... 9:11. Not only are these double numbers appearing on the digital clock, they are also evident in other ways and in other places during the day/night.
One could suppose that it is merely a matter of attention. Where attention goes, energy flows... If I started paying attention to number 28 or 94 instead, then these would become more apparent. Or maybe, as many sources report... it is a wake up call from the Universe to planet Earth and her human beings. Internet research turns up some interesting results on the topic. Anything from marking the passage of spiritual ascension, to indicating that I'm part of some global healing force... and some other kooky ideas.
And then, there are the Angel Numbers. Just have a look at Doreen Virtue's book on the subject. These numbers have been around for centuries - a great secret of mystical and metaphysical knowledge. In the past, there has been both power and purpose to certain combinations of numbers.
Perhaps the more attuned one becomes to the subtle energetic vibrations emanating from numerical combinations, the more one notices them.
However, all that being said, there is another important aspect to all of this. It is that, in each 'age' there have been key 'indicating' numbers. Indicating what exactly? The overall level of human energy? The lessons of the time? I'll leave that to you to decide.
Simply delve into some folklore or superstitions and you will discover the significance of certain numbers. Each culture has its differences to take into account... but, just how far apart are these ideas on the significance of numbers?
Consider for instance that in western culture the number 13 is considered to be generally unlucky. In Asian cultures, the number 4 is thought to be unlucky. Add 13 like so: 1 + 3 = 4. So, something is certainly going on... and has been for a very, very long time. Everything is a form of energy, and numbers are no exception.
So, if our current society in the West is noticing an increase in the significance of double numbers, then what does that indicate?
The myth of 666 being the 'sign of the devil' is passé.
Come up-to-date and you'll realize that the modern equivalent is 911.
That leaves 11:11, 12:12, 12:22 and many more double combinations. What do they mean? Cheiro purports that the numbers 11 and 22 are largely unfortunate... He equates 10 with the 'wheel of fortune' in tarot and with a sense of honour. 12 is most dire in his view, citing suffering and anxiety as its traits. Thankfully, there are contrasting opinions on the matter.
Some other interpretations place numbers 11 and 22 as 'master numbers', whose lessons may be tougher than the others, but whose energies are essentially more developed and more highly attuned. The number 10 is reduced to a '1'... being 'the beginning' and having many positive qualities... And likewise, number 12 is reduced to 3 - the number of entertainment, ego and personality, with positive qualities of creativity and expression.
We could spend all day tossing around the many varied interpretations of each of the numbers. How do we come to a conclusion?
Perhaps the most important part of the equation in this instance of seeing double numbers, is to ascertain what it means to the individual, if anything in particular. The answer may lie there...
Yesterday the number 911 was popping out at me from every direction. Today, combinations of 12, 11 and 10 are obvious. To investigate further... yesterday was a day of healing, inspiration, but held some disappointments. Yet that leaves some questions that no doubt, are asked by many in the pursuit of esoteric knowledge… those questions are along the lines of… “Is that always the case with the same number combinations? And did the numbers refer to the good, the bad or both? Or... is this double number thing all just a fad and a passing phase of the 'new age'?”... to name, but a few.
A simple phenomenon... but perhaps a more complex explanation lies behind it. Observing events which occur in direct relation to these numbers may hold the key to unlocking the mystery. Many Numerologists claim to know what these numbers mean, yet the differing opinions indicate otherwise. Hanging on to one idea, whilst being blinded to other opinion or cold, hard fact, is not a way forward in Numerology and the study of Esoteric topics.
What is often forgotten in Numerology, is that all things consist of a numerical value. A number does not exist anywhere on its own.
The appearance of a set of numbers when in combination with another set of numbers, spells out a different formula than that of a solo performance.
Dare we delve deeper into the mysteries of the universe?
What exists is always known somewhere and somehow, but not always on some grand scale or in some popular fad or convincing religious movement. One must seek, in order to find. And the seeking must be done in a ruthless and highly logical, rational way. I say ruthless, because it is all too easy to subscribe to a certain way of thinking which ‘seems to fit’. One needs to be ruthless with concepts – to strip them bare and inspect every angle before accepting them as ‘fact’.
Think for yourself. You were given a mind, so use it to its fullest extent. Become more, by stretching beyond boundaries and mere popular acceptance.

It’s all very well to look on the ‘bright side of life’ for a while perhaps, but the reality is quite obvious. This is a physical world of opposing forces. There is night and day, light and dark, good and bad. To attempt to live in such a place ignorantly is nothing short of foolish. It’s almost like landing on the moon and stepping out without a spacesuit.
Likewise, there is no ‘good number’. All numbers are equally good and bad. In which way they are good and bad is another matter. Consider for instance, whether a hurtful personal ‘put-down’ is worse than bumping your head as you get into the car. Both are no fun, but the difference is evident.
Such is the search for Truth. And who doesn’t want to know the answers to life? Some think they already do and perhaps they have struck upon something… perhaps not. The point of life is to live it. Living means experiencing and learning… growing and reaching. There is pain, there is pleasure and then there is also something beyond the mere physical. In moments, we catch a glimpse of something purely spiritual, something eternal…
In a flash of inspiration a helicopter was invented, a nuclear weapon, a computer chip, a cure for a disease, a great painting, a beautiful song, and myriad contrasting things that we take for granted in our everyday physical life. So, bring it on! Dream, imagine, go beyond boundaries and think for thy self. Invite inspiration into your existence by opening the doors of your imagination and expanding your mind to the amazing possibilities that the future holds.
