Television movie writers going on strike big deal I have cable television and when I watch a movie on television I always check the date the movie came out. I watch movies from the 40s 50s and 60s. In those times, movies were written and directed by brilliant writers and directors and the stars of those days could capture the moment of the times. They could feel the script they were reading and when the acting came about it was real life being portrayed not phony.

As a baby, boomer my generation was nurtured by the best Hollywood had to offer. Now I know its not all the writers fault for producing bad movies today. However, the world is different today from back two or three decades ago.

When I watch an episode of Law & Order (criminal intent version) with actors Vincent DOrofro and Kathryn Erbe, the psychology portrayed by the bad guys just doesnt exist in todays world. Of course, everyone knows its only fictional but it makes you laugh instead of feel the so-called drama being acted out.

The greats of yesterday (the real stars) wouldnt be caught playing even the role of a dead man in todays movies. As far as that goes most of yesterdays greats have passed away. So one might say, Hey we cant stop the world life must go on. Yes, I only wish some of these writers could capture the new era of time we live in.

The whole point of the way L&W + svu portray their bad guys is as I see it, that these people are not super crooks of the "joker" sort in batman & robin but everyday ordinary people of the present day who get caught up or do the crime for whatever reason on the spur of the moment or of passion or just plain greed or need the money.

I understand what you’re saying Ron, however my point is the psychology version is phony. People don’t fit into these (although fictional) profiles in today's world. The acting is so obvious years ago the real nuts were just that (real) today they are not. And the actors of yesterday could play out the role more realistically.
