The Associated Press is reporting that Russell Crowe has announced his plans to be baptized. Crowe have been known for temper tantrums and a bad boy image, is said to be more spiritual than the public thinks.
Baptism is the outward expression a person does to show their belief or faith in God. Different religions believe it should be done at different times of one's spiritual walk with God.
"I do believe there are more important things than what is in the mind of a man," Crowe says in Men’s Journal. "There is something much bigger that drives us all. I'm willing to take that leap of faith."
He is looking to get baptized by the end of this year. My mom and dad decided to let my brother and me make our own decisions about God when we got to the right age. I started thinking recently, `If I believe it is important to baptize my kids, why not me?'"
Crowe says the baptism will take place in the Byzantine chapel he built at his country ranch in Australia for his wedding to Danielle Spencer in 2003. Crowe has two sons, 3-year-old Charlie and 1-year-old Tennyson.
"It is consecrated and everything," Crowe says in the magazine's December issue, now on newsstands. "Charlie was baptized there. And when Tennyson gets baptized there, I will, too."
This is exciting! I am looking forward to seeing what God does through Crowe. He has been a monumental figure in Hollywood for years with a 2001 Academy Award to show for it.
I have always not been a fan of him because of his prior image. I grew tired quickly of his tantrums and latest partner he was sleeping with. Because of his attitude, I found it hard to watch him even act. What an awesome life change for Crowe. Now I feel it might be easier to give his new movies a chance.
Just him saying that he will be baptized will have an effect on many, I believe. I think it will make some who look up to Crowe be curious as to what Christianity is about and its beliefs.
I pray for the Crowe family and the image the actor will now have in the industry and his future spiritual growth. Finally, some good news about an actor!
