‘PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE’

ARE YOU A CHICKEN WINGER?

This does not mean you sit at your local ‘KFC’ and throw bare or still covered chicken upper body appendages around the place! This is a ‘Golf Specific Term’ that refers to a condition involving your own ‘Target Arm or Lever’ ... the golfer’s wing!

You know that you are best served with a nice longish and straightish ‘Target Arm’ from the ‘Shoulder Socket down to your Finger Tips’. Not rigid! But ‘Comfortably Extended’ or pushed down and out from your body. You know that your ‘555 TEAM’ refers to the optimal condition or configuration of your ‘Target Lever’ as being a ‘Dead Rope Feel’. You know that the ‘Three Functions Of Your Target Lever’ are 1) to establish ‘Swing Radius’, 2) to provide what we technically call the ‘#4 Pressure Point’ and 3) to control the ‘Clubhead and Clubface AIM’. Strive to always be ‘Soft-Handed’!

You perhaps know this ‘Target Lever’ function best by the ‘Head Cover Drill’ during which you do not drop a head cover or ‘Dollar Bill’ tucked under your ‘Target Armpit throughout the entire ‘Back & Front Swings’? The ‘Body’ must make solid contact and provide ‘Forward Pivot Pressure’ by the ‘Chest’ to the’ Target Arm Biceps’. (‘#4 Pressure Point’) That ultimately moves the ‘Clubhead’ by direct ‘Connection’, ‘Brace Toe Pressure to Foot Pre-Load to Brace Leg Drive’! ‘Round & Round’ our ‘Hips, Trunk and Abdomen’ go! All the ‘Horizontal Motion’ is created in this manner!

If you have a ‘Dead Target Lever Rope’ your arm will remain ‘Extended’ throughout the swing as long as it is ‘Lower Body Machine’ (‘LBM’) powered or propelled. Again, your ‘Brace Leg Drive and Pivot’ must create all the ‘Horizontal or Round & Round Motion’. This is vital to quickly becoming a good ‘Ball Striker’.

The ‘HANDS Control The Golf Club’. The ‘ARMS or Levers Support The Hands’.

The ‘BODY Transports The Arms or Levers’ in their ‘Horizontal Motion’.

'Pivot Pressure ('Brace Leg Drive') and Clubhead Speed’
creates ‘Clubhead Velocity and Distance’!

The 'Front or Down & Out Swing' is created
'FROM THE GROUND UP' and 'FROM THE INSIDE OUT'.

If you ‘Body’ does NOT create the ‘Horizontal Motion’, your ‘Hands & Arms’ shall! When you ‘Body’ remains stationary and your ‘Hands & Arms’ move forward, the ‘Target Lever Elbow Must Yield’ ('Chicken WIng') or it will break! When it yields it simply ‘Bends At The Elbow and Wrist’. When it bends at the ‘Target Elbow’ this ‘UBM Articulating Joint’ folds behind your side towards your back. You do this and you look like a chicken!

'The Back Of Your Target Hand Controls The Clubface AIM’ at all times. If any ‘Chicken Winging’ or similar movement takes place, you are ‘Target Hand and Clubhead Unstable’! Performance goes into the toilet!

The following is what your ‘555 TEAM’ calls an ‘Isolate The Parts Drill’ (‘ITP’). It is time for a feel! Stand up. Hold you ‘Hands Together – Palms Touching’, chest-high, like in prayer. Both elbows are bent or comfortably reflexed. Now, push your ‘Brace Hand’ along your ‘Body Line’ towards the ‘Target’ without moving your ‘Body or Hips’. Your ‘Hands’ will move circularly around your ‘Trunk or Torso’ and your ‘Target Elbow Will Yield or Bend’ while your ‘Brace Elbow’ will straighten. In this manner your ‘Target Elbow’ will do the ‘Chicken Wing Error’! Not much more imagination required!

Remember, your arms are both ‘Bending & Straightening’ whenever in ‘Motion’ during the ‘Golf Swing’. When the one is straight, the other is bent! They are both straight at only one precise ‘Moment or Interval’.

When your ‘Lower Body Machine’ (‘LBM’) does NOT totally transport your ‘Hands, Arms and the Golf Club (‘Upper Body Machine’ or ‘UBM’) Horizontally’, you are going to lose the ‘Impact Fix Triangular Shape’ created by both your ‘Hands, Arms and Shoulders’. You are ‘Chicken Winging It’!

When these ‘Triangles Break Down’ or lose their ‘SET-UP Shape’, your ‘5 Essential Elements’ are compromised. Your ‘Clubface AIM’, ‘Clubhead PATH’, ‘Clubhead Speed’, ‘Optimal Percussion Area’ (‘Sweet Spot’) and your ‘Angle Of Attack’ are doomed or actually done in! Your ‘Ball Flight’ is destabilized. Your scores balloon!

In vernacular, you get ‘Spin Rate’ and produce ‘Cut Shots’ with usually uncontrolled ‘Curvature’ that cannot find the ‘Precise Target’.

Heck, forget that! "Precise" was the first thing out the window before the ‘KFC’ parts! You’ll be lucky if you can ‘Find Your Own Butt With Your Own HandsOn The Golf Course’! We've all been there, right?
