Every year my family gathers around the table ready for the feast of turkey, sweet potatoes, corn and the many, many deserts that everyone has brought.
We all have our own things that we are thankful for. One is we are all here together again for another year.
After walking around and talking with each other we all sit down to the dinner table to get ready to eat but before we can eat we all one by one tell each other what we are grateful for. Its starts from one end of the table all the way around.
This year my wife and I will be especially happy to be there. Its been a bad year for us. It started with my wife having Pulmonary Sarcoidosis that still is going on. It started back around the first of the year.
Then I had a torn aorta and a renal bypass along with a severe case of dizziness that kept me in and out of the hospital for 85 days.
So this year when we are asked what we are thankful for, it will be each other and making through this together, along with the love and support that we received from our family then and now.
Family is so important that every day should be Thanksgiving.
I Dedicated this to my Wife, Daughter and her family, Mother, sister and her family, the Morinsky family and all my friends who where there for us.

Herb, you truly know what's important this year! I love your tradition! I started the same tradition many years ago when I had little ones at the table. It was wonderfully comical! My oldest son was always thankful for the new toy car model he had received, the youngest son was always grateful for the new football or baseball he had received, and my daughter was always grateful for "a wonderful mommy". Oooo. (She's my favorite, can you tell?) But as they got older, they began to be grateful for things that were more permanent. We still carry on the same tradition today, complete with fidgeting grandchildren who just want their "tweet potato" pie! Teaching children an attitude-of-gratitude is one of the best services a parent can provide. Thanks for your timely article! And have a blessed "Gratitude Day"! Respond to this comment

Thank you April for your responce. It's me ahppy to know that others have the same pleasent tradition! At one point in time I thought my Daughter and I would never get the opportuinty to tell each other what we were grateful for. Each year I get to tell how much I love in front of the whole family. We are greatful to have eachother every day.
I hope everyone of your day are as blessed as mine.
Have a great thanksgiving Respond to this comment
