Do you know someone who loves gardening? Do people always seem to give them the same plants boring houseplants or bland flowers from the department store garden center? Why not try something a little different? Houseplants can be tiresome for the seasoned gardener, and when it comes to purchasing plants for their garden, serious gardeners can often be very specific about which plants they will allow into their landscape design. But you can never go wrong with accessories and tools! Gardeners love gadgets. And in some gadget categories, like spades and gloves, gardeners can never have too many. Other neat gadgets, like seed-starting kits and growing aids, are great, too, because most gardeners love trying something new to see if they get better results. I know that most of the gardeners in my life have sheds full of gadgets, and they'd never part with any of them.
Seed-Starting Kits
One of the best gadgets to get those beloved gardeners for the coming spring is a seed-starting kit. Many gardeners prefer to start seeds indoors before transplanting the seedlings into the garden. A kit is the perfect gardening gift, especially for those vegetable gardeners in your life. Most seed-starting kits provide a warm, moist environment and a perfect growing medium for getting those springtime plants off to a good start. Many traditional gardeners do their seed-starting on top of the fridge or in a window sill, but for proper temperature control, include a seedling heat mat along with the other seed-starter tools. Providing gadgets that ensure a higher germination rate will surely put a smile on any gardeners face.
Kits for starting seeds are also just plain fun, and are excellent for getting children involved in gardening--they can watch the seeds they sprout grow into plants in their own little bio-dome experiment. And even the most finicky kids will sample vegetables that they grew for themselves!
Gloves and Spades
Spades and gloves are classic garden gifts that never go out of style. Gloves are perfect for avid gardeners, because anyone who spends a great deal of time in the yard goes through a decent pair of gloves in less than a year. They are always looking for a really tough pair of gardening gloves that are comfortable and resilient. And spades! If you know any gardeners, you have probably seen their spade collection--all different shapes and sizes for manipulating the soil in various ways that most non-gardeners just couldn't understand. If you find an interesting spade, and you have a gardener in your life, go ahead and buy it for them--I promise, they will not be disappointed. Anyway, more spades means more people can help, and who doesn't love a little help every once in a while?
We often buy hobby-specific gifts because we can see that people take pleasure in those things, and that is safe and smart gifting, especially when it comes to gardeners. Very few people are as passionate about their hobby as gardeners. This is fortunate for anyone buying a gift for a gardener. Theres a whole world of gadgets, accessories, plants, how-to books, garden dcor, and seeds out there that your gardener hasn't even noticed yet. Generally, its a fairly inexpensive hobby to buy for, compared to someone who is into electronics, music, or other such popular hobbies. So good luck this holiday season, digging up that perfect gift for the gardeners in your life.
