In a short while we will as Americans celebrate a holiday which goes back to the very foundation of our nation. We gather in families not for the meal, which of itself seems to have surpassed the intent of the day, which is to give thanks to Almighty God for all our blessings big and small.

No it is not about parades but they are part of the celebration, the abundance one puts on the table or the little one has that they share with others. No it is all about stopping to thank He that gives us all great and small the freedom we have and the blessing even though they may be minor and insignificant to some.

Now, as I stated the holiday has nothing to do with material wealth, although some have turned it intot that. It is extremely significant that we Americans used to understand this is all about God. In my opinion  I sense we have somehow placed that second and some have forgotten that? Now certainly Christians have understood that this is what has allowed the blessing from God to prosper us. Others can laugh but believers know and recognize this as truth.

Now we can certainly see the change in our society with those clamoring to foster their own religious, ideology and social beliefs upon us. However, in my opinion now is the time of testing. While we can certainly be loving and tolerant we should not lose site of the fact we are and were formed as a Christian nation. To love our fellow man does not mean to give up our beliefs or our way of life or traditions. It really is for they who have gained this new freedom to embrace as Americans and respect our traditions as we are to do likewise for them.

If you were in Saudi Arabia, and I know the racists will all swarm over the truth and say it is not politically correct, but you could not practice your faith openly. In many parts of the world Christians are persecuted and killed. They do not have that here and on that day they should thank God for America and our Consititution that they can openly profess their beliefs and opinions.

So, why are Christians so silent and so passive about giving up our heritage and our values our beliefs and faith and concerning what has been the foundation of our nations values? Is it we no longer believe in God, or are mere shills and Easter Bunnies, hollow and while we have all the outward signs of faith and belief no real commitment or conviction? Just showing the cover of the book outwardly for all to see but having no faith or belief.

In my opinion those who we have placed into power, while professing God and Country, have trampled on our society, our law and our nation as a Christian Nation and yes our very way of life regardless of their true intent or not. They are in my opinion more interested in appeasement and political correctness then truth, values, heritage and place their own agenda and ideology above all else. Others can openly practice their beliefs while Christmas is banned and prayer is banished and they aggressivly pursue thiers.

Is it not about time we Christians humbled ourselves in our actions by asking Gods forgiveness for our neglect, our inaction, and our failure to give true thanks to Him for all our blessings. Are we ashamed to openly profess our God that we as a Christain nation serve and no other? As I stated, why can others do this openly professing their God while we must be silent before them? Could it be, just be, while unbelievers will laugh, that we have and are reaping what we sow? What does it take to speak the truth? What does it take to stand for our faith? Must we wait for others to say what we believe and then ask why hasn't anyone done this or that, or said this or that? Just where is your action?

Can Katrina, drought, fires, all sorts of weather and financial problems, Iran, Afghanistan, unemployment and the scourges that were not part of America even a few decades ago and are rampant today be a sign? Can a lack of leadership, planning and the indecissiveness that seems to be in all that we are involved in and in every aspect of our society be a sign of Gods anger with us? Will not our leaders run to and fro not knowing what to do and do they?

Yes, if we Christians do not awake soon and really all Americans to what we may all lose and return to God then you can do away with Thanksgiving, or for that matter Christmas, because it has become only another day off in this worlds system.

As for me and hopefully all others, Christians and other faiths that this Thanksgiving will be the start of our return to our faith and beliefs and heritage that is Thanksgiving an American Holiday and a day to recognize God.
