The New York Post is reporting that Bon Jovi may have future plans to run for governor of New Jersey despite a recent move to New York.
The Post reports that Bon Jovi is keeping his house in Red Bank, hired as his public relations expert Ken Sunshine (the former chief of staff for an ex-mayor) and often times can be seen performing benefit concerts for democrats such as Al Gore and John Kerry.
"Jon has been approached many times about running for office," said Sunshine, who denied the rocker has any political plans. "His day job is going too well, and this way he can keep the house."
There would be some pros for Bon Jovi running for office. He is considered to have strong family values. Bon Jovi is still married to his high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley and they have four children.
Also seeing how the 80’s are making a comeback in all areas of the marketplace, I think Bon Jovi could have a good shot. He has a lot of name recognition. He definitely has the women’s vote and most likely a lot of men who grew up in the 80’s as well. After all, they would be able to cast their votes in private.
Honestly, this was more than likely just a publicity stunt to get his name and projects back out there. It is an interesting and creative concept to get some needed publicity.
I have to admit I was one of the teens that grew up in love with Bon Jovi. I had the posters. I had the BOP Magazines. I felt honored if a boy asked me to dance to Bed of Roses. I went and saw him in every movie he ever played. My girlfriends and I would stay up at sleepovers singing his songs and drooling. I would definitely throw all my principles out the window and vote for him. Just call me a brainwashed child of the 80’s. That is probably why it is a good thing I don’t live in New Jersey!
