Riders oftentimes argue about windscreens. Some are against the idea of having them in their bikes. However, some are insisting that they are crucial. Which view are we going to take?

Some riders find windscreens as an eerie barrier in riding. This perception is especially true when you travel during nighttime. In fact, it is hard to see through the windscreen. It is even made harder by the reflections of dash lights that are reflected back to the rider.

Another reason is that they consider it injurious at times. When riders are faced with collisions, their heads can be forced down to the windscreens, causing not only slight injuries but can also result to irreparable injuries. Since, head is one of the vital parts of our body. It will be very difficult to have it injured because that would entail a domino effect to the entire body system. Damage to the head can cause brain injury. It can even cause paralysis and can lead to a ride to a useless ‘vegetable state’.

Aside from the brain, another feasible target is the eyes. It is the closest sensitive part to the windscreens. It only takes one wrong movement or reaction to result to eye extraction or loss of eyesight. Both ways, they are horrifying and for sure nobody wants that to happen. Thus, to a number of riders, windscreens should not be used because it can lead to further aggravate an injurious and risky ride. Windscreens make us dizzy. What makes it more annoying is the fact that it can injure or can cause death.

Opposing views refute the other. Nonetheless, I belong to the other side who realizes its importance. It’s hard to ride when sand, wind, and debris interrupting your senses. Better yet to have windscreen to protect you from these hazards. Once you are distracted, it will most likely result to a more risky ride.

I like having windscreen around to keep me away from bugs, sand, and other eerie debris. Nowadays, the trend is the bigger the windshield the better. However, I like the conventional sizes better than the larger than life windshields. The bigger the windscreen, the greater is its resistance. Thus, the faster you go, the more weight you take off the bike’s front tire. You may feel that there is insufficient traction. Therefore, steering at times becomes impossible because the front tire has no weight at all.

For me, old windscreens are better than the large ones. This can also be your plight, just choose the windscreen you are comfortable with when riding around!
