"How do I apply false eyelashes?" Want dramatic, sexy lashes that go on for miles? Mascara alone can only do so much! False eyelashes were super-popular in the Sixties, and they've recently come back with a vengeance in fabrications as fanciful as feathers and as exotic as mink and red fox fur.
The beauty industry and celebs use false eyelashes far more often than the layperson might suspect, and you too can become an expert at applying whole strips and individual lashes with precision and delicacy.
These instructions are for applying strip lashes. Once you've mastered this and have learned what feels and looks right on you, you can modify these steps to apply subtle tufts of 2-3 individual lashes, which look best on the outer corner of your eye.
First measure the dry strip of lashes against your eyelid. If the strips are too long for your eye, trim them to the correct size by cutting at the outer corner.
Apply glue in a very thin line at base of false lashes. If you're worried about accidentally getting too much glue on the strip, put the glue on the back of your hand or on a tissue and pick it up with the back end of a small, thin makeup brush. This way you'll have complete control as you transfer the glue from the end of the brush to the lashes.
Pick up the lash strip with a tweezer and place it above and against the base of natural lashes, about one-fourth of the way in from inner corner. Push down all around with finger or end of a brush (one without glue on it!). Do this very carefully, so you don't get glue on your fingertips. (If you do get glue on your fingers, just rub them together and the glue will ball up and crumble off.).
Wait for glue to dry completely before applying any other makeup. Careful mascara application will blend your true eyelashes with your new false ones.
