We are now entering into another holiday season. We hear Christmas tunes in the stores where we go to shop. Yes, tis the season to be jolly, every year when I hear the late Dean Martin's song Winter Wonderland it takes me back in time. I suppose getting older kind of makes us lose the excitement of the season, some anyway. However,there is a magic in the air that captures me while listening to old Christmas songs sung by the stars of yesterday.
Burl Ives was another artist who could bring out the holiday cheer in the young as well as the old.In 1964, Burl was cast as the narrator for the holiday TV special Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, lending his voice to the snowman who tells the story. Included in this TV special were a handful of songs that Burl sings - one of them "Holly JollyChristmas". Here are the lyrics to the song
(Burl Ives)
Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow
But have a cup of cheer
Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
And when you walk down the street
Say Hello to friends you know
And everyone you meet
Oh
Ho
The mistletoe
Hung where you can see;
Somebody waits for you;
Kiss her once for me
Have a holly jolly Christmas
And in case you didn't hear
Oh by golly
Have a holly
Jolly Christmas this year
My article is kind of a early season (just before the kick off) Christmas cheer that follows the Thanksgiving holiday.
Merry Christmas To All, And To All A Good Night

Hi David! Now I'll be singing "Holly, Jolly Christmas" all day! (smile) I have always loved Christmas songs as well as the movies and really listen to them year round -- I have never outgrown "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and what about Bing Crosby? I love him! Thanks for putting a smile on our faces and hope you're well -- check your e-mail; I sent you something (smile) Respond to this comment
