There was a time when my sister had great abs because she was particular about the food that she ate, restricted her intake of fat and did hundreds of ab crunches daily and, although it was very hard work, the results were more than worth the effort. Everything changed however after she gave birth to her son when she rapidly went very soft around the middle, developed very visible love handles, and was not able to get rid of the flab regardless of how many different diets she tried.

This would have been bad enough, but she also found that she could not even do her crunches anymore because she was suffering from severe back pain. She was not prepared however to give in to being out of shape and she made up her mind to check out some abdominal exercise machines.

Abdominal exercise machines are designed specifically to target the abs during a workout and most machines imitate normal crunch exercises although they are far easier on the body. For instance, virtually everybody does crunch exercises while lying on the floor with their hands behind their head which puts them at risk for back injury. This is not however a problem with abdominal exercise machines because they restrict your movement and make you maintain a good posture in order to work with the machine. As a result these exercise machines are more or less foolproof and permit the remainder of the body a break while you work on your abs.

My sister had watched numerous late-night television ads for abdominal exercisers but was not prepared to rush out and purchase one based solely on what she had seen on television. She did not wish to hear what professional bodybuilders and actors were paid to say but wanted to hear what real people had to say about these exercise machines from their own personal experience.

So she jumped online and found a variety of third-party consumer reviews for virtually all of the leading abdominal exercisers. She wanted to find out which machines were well-constructed, simple to use, and actually worked on sculpting the abs and which would just be a waste of her time and money. Also, she wanted to find websites where she could purchase the most popular abdominal exercise machines at the lowest prices because these machines are not cheap and any discount that she could find would certainly be helpful.

One thing that she said to me was that she was very pleased to have read the online reviews as one of the exercisers that she had been thinking about buying was not at all well received by those who reviewed it. It seems that the machine in question has one or two substantial problems that she would not have found in advance of buying it. In the end she bought a machine that was a reasonable way down her list of possibilities but which had nonetheless received very positive reviews.

The best news is that with her machine she is able to work on her abs three or four times each week without the back pain that she had without it. Much more importantly, she is now starting to see a reduction in her waist and should shortly be happily back in shape once more and feeling very much like her old self.
