For those having busy days, and don’t have time to keep with the thousands of new things that happen at home and the globe, here’s some little tidbits of news from the desk of Sacreeta.
The Buzz on the Street says:
Germany adds a personal touch to security, with the mere touch of a pinky.
In Germany, with a personal touch, as the Fingerprints replace not only bankcards, but this fall Germany will have the first digital fingerprinted signatures on Passports. It’s Germany’s solution to tightening security against organized crime and international terrorism.
At the local grocery stores in South Germany, they are taking retailing to a whole new level, and are leaving their bank cards home. In it’s infancy, the concept of using bank cards, credit cards, checks and debit transactions have been replaced with a personal touch. The consumer can easily register with the grocery store, stamping their fingerprint along with their bank details, which goes into the system, and all that’s needed to make the purchase transaction is a mere press of their thumb, a pinky is actually worth points, in their current contest.
Interesting? Wait there’s more.
It is going a step further in Germany, the Government plans by the year 2010, that all citizens of Germany will be on file with fingerprint signatures for proof of citizenship, including locality, right down to their phone number.
Does that affect the Western World?
You bet your boots it does.
It’s been said since around 2005, that the United States, Canada and Mexico governments are planning an amalgamation of the three countries within the next ten years, where they want to introduce the Amero dollar. Now that’s kinda like the Euro, but it’s Western, to help maintain the falling economy in the West. AND, to top it off, the concept of digital signatures are said to be following suit similar to Germany, except, they won’t be using your fingerprint, it is actually a microchip they plan to insert into your body. It’s supposed to be the size of a strand of hair, and only hold 60mbs. The goal being, that bank cards, credit cards, etc, will no longer exist, that money will be nothing more than a signature on a special ID card for all, plus all citizens will be microchipped and big brother will know your every move, and past and present.
There is an upside to this, if you can believe it.
Firstly saying, let’s just hope that doesn’t take street thumb benders to a whole new level. But have you ever have your bank card stolen? I have, while at a cash register. The thief must have watched me put in my pin number, then when the cashier set down my card, it disappeared, so I assume I already put it in my purse. Only to discover my life savings had vanished along with my bankcard. I suppose if I had to only use my thumb print for it to work, I might not have lost my life savings. Although when you think about it, eventually thieves would figure out a way to get your thumb print, too. Let’s just hope that thieves don’t take the whole thumb, in their endeavors to steal your money.
The downside is, or at least one of them is, being tagged and losing your right to privacy, when you haven’t broken any laws, that is unsettling to people. Especially people who are proud to be free, and had to fight to get it. That makes one ask, is this a good thing, or a bad thing? Where do you draw the line at maintaining a right to privacy?
Has the free world we all have come to take for granted, that our forefathers died to protect, creating little things, oh like, RIGHTS and FREEDOMS, will be a mere history lesson for our future people?
Oh the crazy things they come up with, when it comes to technology!
What will they think of next?
ANYONE brave enough to ask?
Here’s some links if you want to do some reading on the subjects, I suggest you skim through all the link titles before you click on any, I provided the best links I could find on the subjects covered above.
CNN’s take on the subject with ‘Microchips in humans: High-tech helpers or Big Brother surveillance?’
CNN LARRY KING LIVE Interview with Vicente Fox, where Fox affirmed there was a plan in place for the Amero dollar, but he indicated it was a long-term plan. Larry King came right and asked him if it would be a dollar like the Euro, and it was suggested that an Amero would be introduced.
No time to read it all?
