If you own a Maytag Neptune 2000 Stacker series, MAH3000, MAH4000 or the MAH5500A series and it will not spin your clothes here are some important steps you should take to prevent further damage to your machine control board and to determine if your machine control board is repairable.

If your Neptune front loader machine will not spin do the following:

1. Unplug your Neptune washer.

2. Open up the top console by removing 3 screws along top. Note: See Step 2A below if you have a Neptune Stacker 2000 washer/dryer combo.

3. Push console towards back while pulling top of console towards you.

4. Console will pivot back towards you to expose machine control board.

5. Mark all wires and connectors on control board to aid reinstallation.

6. Remove the upper machine control board. Wrap control board in aluminum foil if you need to take board to another location such as a workbench. This is to prevent static damage to board.

7. Cut out Q6 and R11. Note: Q6 and R11 are located by the left mounting slot. Make sure none of the Q6 leads are touching after you cut them.

8. Reinstall upper machine control board.

9. Reassemble machine by reversing disassembly steps.

10. Plug in Neptune.

11. Start machine. If machine fills with water then there is a repair kit you can use to fix your Neptune. If your machine does not fill with water then you will have to replace your machine control board. Some Neptune's suffer more damage than others and the microprocessor (U1) can be damaged when Q6 shorts.

2A. Neptune Stacker 2000 disassembly instructions: (The machine control board is located above dryer - on right side)

1. Remove (2) screws on top corners and pull doorframe towards you.

2. Open door and remove the doorframe.

3. Unscrew the two hold down brackets on both sides.

4. Unscrew (2) screws on top on the right side these mount the control board bracket.

5. Prop top panel up.

6. Proceed to Step 5.

By performing these steps you can determine if your machine control board is repairable or if it needs to be replaced.

Remember, if you know anyone who has a Maytag Neptune tell them about the door latch wax motor defect issue so they can replace the wax motor before the control board suffers any damage. You will doing them a great favor.
