It is almost time to get out the paper and pencils and to make our list of resolutions for the New Year. We sit down, put on our thinking caps and come up with things that, deep down, we know that we are not going to accomplish, but I guess it is the thought that counts! So, what can we do different this year?
My list will have things on it that, I know, that I will actually follow through on, such as; Things that I need to do in order to organize my life and to eliminate stress.
I will have a list of goals, that I know that I can achieve.
I will plan to do new things that will improve my life and give me a chance to spend more time with family and friends.
I will spend more time writing my list, because this list will be one that will help me to get organized, in every part of my life
Why is that different from previous years? Mainly, because this year, I am looking at things with a new point of view. I am looking at all of the things that have been a 'thorn in my side' this past year and I have vowed that, it is now or never. If it is not done this year, I might as well forget it, because I don't have the fortitude to stick to a plan. Which, I am the type of person, that never gives up, especially on myself, so I know I will have everything crossed off my list and the mission will be accomplished.
I also have set a time limit this year, in which I have to get, certain things, accomplished. I have never done that before. I always looked at it, like "well heck, I have all year to do it". Well, not this year; every phase of my list now has a deadline! Am I putting extra pressure on myself? You bet I am! I tried it the other way and it didn't work. I made my list checked it twice and through it in the garbage by May.
This year I have made 'change' my number one priority. I have decided that a little genie isn't going to come into my life and make everything better. No one is going to do my job for me and eliminate the clutter in my life, so I guess it is all up to me. I have a determination this year that I have never had before, not because I am sick of the mess and problems, but because I am sick of the fact that my list get's thrown in the garbage every year. Evidently, I am a slow learner and haven't figured out that the lists that I have been making aren't what my priorities really are.
What is going to be on your list this year?
Are you going to write down goals that you really 'want' to achieve or just the ones that you 'think you should' achieve?
How long is it going to take you to finish everything on your list?
Are you an achiever, a procrastinator, an excuse maker or are you, determined?
I guess we will all find out how well we do around this time next year; when we start to make out our new lists. Will you have the same things to add to your list next year because you still haven't done them? I know that I won't, this is the year that I 'get organized'!
This letter, could have been written by anyone of us, it happened to be a letter that I wrote to myself eight years ago. We all go through the same thinking, year after year, until we finally decide that enough is enough. I reached that point and decided to make a change for the better and you can to. Get organized, get rid of the clutter in your life, clean out the debris that is holding you down and become a better person for it!
