Can one hundred dollars really help towards making the world we live in a better place; damned right it can if used in a way that each and every inhabitant on this living planet would benefit from.
Apprehension would prevail in the back of my mind of my true capabilities i.e. am I worthy of bettering the world, it was thoughts like these which would cause me to question myself as to whether I was credible of achieving such a feat that could change every ones life forever with the hundred dollar bill that was burning a hole in my pocket. Well after a lot of thought the answer came to me quicker than anticipated. Okay the days of miracles seem so long ago in the past and forgotten like when thousands were fed by the hands of the lord himself with five loaves and two fishes, and the lame limped no more and the blind were to see again. In thought I discarded any hope in this department for myself performing a miracle with my hundred dollars.
If I were to make this world a better place then first I had to convert my US hundred dollars into British pounds ( 50.6575 GBP) which I hasten to add at the time had me worried that I now had far less money to spend than that of my fellow American citizens to help the world become a better place, of course this was not the case after I put on my thinking cap and began to think straight. After careful thought my prayers were answered, belief in miracles happening in the twentieth century was to come to the fore with this solution.
My hundred dollars (50 quid) was going to be put to good use. I knew it was a filthy task to address but if I wanted to make the world a better place I had to tackle pollution head on because of health issues and the environment.
How I can change things in my life for the better and into the bargain better the lives of other folks too, well in exchange for my fifty pounds I would buy comfortable shoes for walking back and too to work instead of using the car of which is a contributor of more emission input to the environment, with what was left over I would change brand names of beauty cosmetics to the more environment friendly products.
Damaging agents which contain harmful substances to the ozone layer would no longer grace my bathroom shelf or kitchen cupboards.
What is pollution?
Pollution is when water, air or land becomes contaminated i.e. filthy. It comes in four different types affecting many areas in the world greatly. Air pollution affects the air, water pollution affects the water and is very damaging to marine life, and land pollution destroys life and the environment. It is not unknown that noise pollution can cause deafness
Are you aware that in the year 2012, vehicles manufactured in the EU must meet strict carbon emissions targets, with high rising fines on manufacturers themselves that fail to comply, which is good news for the environment and even greater news for the innocent green peace supporter affected by another persons ignorance every time the gas is stepped up in the car.
Motorway vehicles account for 26% of our CO2 emissions (1.7 billion tons each year) and a staggering .97% of the GHG emitted from motorway cars is CO2. If you too want the world you live in to be a safer environment then go by a pair of shoes, if money is tight then a trip to the cobblers to mend the old ones you have, in a worse case scenario then go barefoot, okay the feet may well get cold but it sure beats a heart under threat ready to clog because of smog.
PS If every one is to take heed and contribute to the environment in this way then it would be a step in the right direction (excuse the pun) in making the world a better place.
