It is a fact of life, we all have clutter, some we can control, some we can't and some is organized clutter. Under normal circumstances, we seem to keep everything under control and then that dreaded, 'what if', day comes along and we seem to lose control of everything. That is when we are glad that we took the time to get organized and chuck disorganization right out the window

There are things that we have and use often enough that it seems like such a waste of money to go and purchase a container to store it in. However, it ends up laying on the kitchen counter, the desk or a table and never manages to find a home to stay in. What do you do with little things like this? How you can organize something that is this small and will get lost if you put it in a drawer?

My old handy standby comes into action for this one. Shoe storage bags, come in a variety of sizes and the one that you can purchase for children's shoes are just the right size for these small little things. The nice thing about them is that they fit on the inside of any door and some are small enough to fit on the inside of cupboard doors (like in the bathroom). They come in handy in so many areas of your home!

Another type of storage that most people don't think of is a regular cardboard box. Yes, I know, it isn't very pretty, but there are things that you can do to take care of that. Purchase some Contac paper that accents the room that you are going to store it in and cover the box, add a label and you have just become an ingenious organizer!

Some other handy storage containers that you can purchase are:

Bins, Plastic Boxes, cubbies, wicker baskets, hanging organizers, magazine organizers that can double as file organizers, wooden crates, plastic bins and storage containers and a multitude of specialty organizing boxes.

Containers that you can make yourself or have your kids make (on snowy days):
pen and pencil holders (out of tin cans), Note holders (out of paper plates and yarn), Sweater Boxes (out of card board boxes+ Contac paper), Bookends (colored Jars filled with colored sand) and the list goes on. On this one, you can ask the kids, they are great at creating things and come up with some great ideas!

The hint behind organization is to make sure that you have the proper sized storage container, a place to accommodate it and have it labeled. Organizing is easy and fun and it will stretch your imagination as well.

So you see, there really is such a thing as 'organized clutter' and you will be in control once again.
