As the Christmas festivities, to celebrate the "birth of Christ", came and went, here is a thought...
I ask you:
"Does Christ really care about our feasts and celebrations in His name? Do you think it is harmless?
If we care about serving Him and believe you are Holy unto him, we should always ask what do the scriptures say... and not what do "traditions of men/religion" say.
What the scriptures have to say about the decking of the tree referred to today as the christmas tree?
Jeremiah 10 " 1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD,
Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not...."
What do the scriptures say about how God feels about our feasts (The ones He did not ordain)
Isaiah 1:14 "Your new moons and
your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them."
Is the church seeking to please Him by honoring the feasts He has ordained? His covenant unto us?
Leviticus 23:5 "In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's
passover."
Jesus observed the Passover. Jesus is the Passover, however, it is Easter that millions of Christians celebrate... Matthew 26:2 "Ye know that after two days is the feast of the
passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified."
Matthew 26:16-18 16" And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand;
I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples."
What do the scriptures say and/or How does God really feel when we "serve" God as religion and traditions dictate, and not serve him as He commanded...
Isaiah 29:13 "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near
me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour
me, but have removed their heart
far from me, and their fear toward
me is taught by
the precept of men:"
Mark 7:8
"For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the
tradition of
men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do."
Now, back to my question: "Do you think following traditions of men is harmless?" Colossians 2:8
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the
tradition of
men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."
Matthew 7:22-24 22" Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:"
Obedience is better than sacrifice....
The definition of "sacrifice" to you may be different than what I'd call a sacrifice, but what does "To obey" mean to you? 1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is
better than sacrifice, and to hearken
than the fat of rams.
Mark 7:8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the
traditions of
men."
Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them,
Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
I write you this with love.
Wishing you and your loved ones a time of reflection and renewal in the Spirit of God through his son Jesus Christ. DaughterNature.com John 7:38 38 He that believeth on me,
as the scripture hath said , out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
