There are literally hundreds of stories, legends, tales from all over this globe that speak to what we call Atlantis. Of course depending on where you are the name changes. However, they all speak to an island nation located in the middle of water, which we presume as the ocean.
Now these Legends say the inhabitents were humans or at least human types, they could fly and had a potion for eternal life [Perhaps this is where the search for the fountain of youth originated?]
Now we do know this, the world, or at least the known world, was evidently destroyed by a great flood. We also know that there were many floods brought about by the melting of the Polar Ice caps [anything sound familiar to today]. So many believe because of these events much of ancient history is under water.
Now believe or not even the Bible speaks of a great flood that destroyed mankind. It is evident humans had reached a point that they offended God so severely he decided to purge the entire earth of His creation. Was what they had learned and knew, as we say the key to eternal life and the creation of humans via artificial means, the straw that broke the Camels back?
The Bible says that at the end all things will become known and then the end shall come. It will not come until this is fulfilled, only this time by fire. How close are we to that time? Our knowledge is growing expeditiously in leaps and bounds via technology. We have done and are seeing things not even dreamed of a few short years ago. Are we in this day and age arriving at that point that perhaps this civilization did? Placing man at the same level as God or even professing we are as Gods, as described on the ancient tales and in the stone sculptures that refer to Gods?
Furthermore pagan and Biblical prophesy says that we are fast approaching a unique time period. Some point to 2012. Christians look for the return of Christ, Muslims for the return of their Caliph and Jews to the return of their Messiah. Laugh them off if you want but one does have to consider or at least their possibility. Cast them off and nothing happens you are ok, cast them off and they come true, you are in the world of hurt.
So, naturally if the world ends by natural means, or God you really do not have but one choice, trust God as your savior, or go to where you will go. Simple as that.
So the question to consider is this , Are we the new Atlantis of history and just what nation or peoples does this apply to if this is the case? Book of Revelation or the Apocalypse Chapter 18
9"When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her. 10Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry:
" 'Woe! Woe, O great city,
O Babylon, city of power!
In one hour your doom has come!'
