You have decided to quit smoking, but have you the necessary will power to succeed? I am somebody who has managed to stop smoking, it certainly was not easy but I feel a whole lot healthier now. I have not smoked a cigarette for over a year and am happy to report that I no longer even get the urge. In this article I will be writing about how I successfully managed to quit smoking.

I had attempted to stop smoking on numerous occasions; I had tried patches and also gave hypnotherapy a go. For whatever reason, I did not succeed and kept returning to those death sticks. It may have been because I was not fully committed to quit or perhaps because I was not ready.

Around two years ago I decided to try for one last time. My wife challenged me to quit smoking and stated that she did not think that I had the courage or the will power to succeed. I will show you, I thought to myself.

I wrote a list of all the reasons that I wanted to stop smoking, this list included the following:

To save some money

For health reasons

I hate the way that smoking makes my clothes smell

To stop my teeth from turning yellow

To prove my wife wrong

To prove that I am a winner and not a loser

I kept this list with me at all times. There were demons or little voices in my head; they were trying to convince me to have just one more cigarette.

The first few days and weeks were without doubt the hardest. I decided to keep myself busy; I also had an extra plan. Every time that I really really wanted a cigarette I would do thirty sit ups. Instead of slowly killing myself through smoking, I would attempt to become stronger via exercise. This might sound a little crazy but it worked for me.

I wish you the very best in your quest to quit smoking.
